Devon F. "Bud" Ruhter, Sr. 1919-2011 Devon (Bud) Ruhter, Sr., 92 of Twin Falls, Idaho passed away Friday, September 2, 2011. He was born August 4, 1919 in Roseland, Nebraska to Fred and Rebecca Ruhter. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Holstein High School in 1936. That same year he came to Twin Falls, started farming and working at the Twin Falls Feed and Ice. In 1941, he was inducted into the Army serving his country in World War II (1941-45). He married his sweetheart, Norma Griffith, on June 30, 1942. After returning from the Army, he farmed North of Jerome then moved to a farm west of Kimberly. In 1949, he and Norma purchased a farm in the Buhl/Castleford area where he raised crops and operated a dairy. In 1975, they moved to Twin Falls where he raised Shorthorn Cattle. He was a former member of the Castleford Men's Club and the Balanced Rock Soil Conservation District. Devon enjoyed going to the Twin Falls Stock yard and the Depot Grill to have a cup of coffee and talk with his friends. He liked watching baseball, playing pinochle, gin rummy and dominoes, reading, pitching horseshoes, bowling, and playing a game of pool or snooker. He is survived by his wife Norma of 69 years. His sons: Devon, Jr. (Luella), Melvin, Randy (Linda), Boyd, and his daughter Grace (Jerry) Owen, his grandchildren and grandchildren. His brothers: Marlin, Gene(Gladys), Dean(Shirley), and John(Lou) and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Jan, parents, a sister, and a brother. A visitation for Devon will be Thursday, September 8, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home (2551 Kimberly Rd., Twin Falls, Idaho). Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 9, 2011 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Roger Sedlmayr officiating. Interment will follow services at the Twin Falls Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest memorials be sent to support "God with us" the weekly outreach ministry radio broadcast on KART 1400.
