CLYEL JARRIET BERRY December 4, 1918 - September 3, 2011 Clyel Jarriet Berry died Sept. 3, 2011 at home, after a courageous fight with cancer. Born Dec 4, 1918, at the family's home in Blanche, Mo., to Jarrett and Dolly Marlena Parsley Berry, he was raised and educated in Blanche, graduating from West Plains High School in West Plains, Mo. He then went on to Bolivar College, where he graduated with a teaching degree. Clyel's first teaching job was at Rock Valley School in Missouri where he taught 1st through 8th grade. It was here that he met and fell in love with Nellie Ellen Duncan. They were married October 16, 1939. After teaching, Clyel became a sales representative for the American Sales Store. Their first child, Velma Jean, was soon born. Two years later their second daughter, Treva came along. Their third daughter, Wilma was born two years following. Clyel then moved his family to ldaho, in the Eden/Hazelton area where he farmed for one season. They then bought a dry goods store in Eden, ID, which they ran for a few years before moving to the Kimberly/Twin Falls area and returning to farming. During this time their son, L. Clyel Berry was born. After farming for several years, Clyel and Nellie bought a small market south of Twin Falls, called Consumer's Market. Their business grew and they built a new store, which they named Berry's Market. For 50 years they spent their life, 6 days a week, at this store meeting and greeting old and new customers. The time spent at the store with Nellie was the happiest time of his life. In the earlier years, after buying the store, he worked as a mechanic in the garage, which they built while Nellie ran the store. As Clyel grew older, he closed his shop and focused on the store. Clyel loved children and would often treat his customer's children to candy. Clyel loved hunting and fishing. His most cherished times were with his grandsons pheasant hunting and all of the grandchildren fishing at Silver Creek and Stanley Creek. He loved fishing for brook trout and took pride in showing his grandchildren and great grandchildren the ins and outs of how to catch them.
