Obituary for Alan Kime Alan Leroy Kime, age 83, died July 7, 2011, at his home in Shoshone, Idaho. He was born July 14, 1927, in Cornish, CO to Ivan and Bernice Kime. Early in his life, the family moved to the Sandhills of Nebraska where his parents operated a cattle ranch. He attended a rural school, later moving to Mullen, NE to continue high school. Upon graduation, Alan worked on several different ranches and in time enlisted in the Merchant Marines at the age of 17. He saw quite a bit of the world with 48 months of sea time. In 1950 he joined the United States Air Force, and served four years. While stationed in Hawaii, he married Margaret Vinton in 1951. Two daughters were born while they were living in Hawaii. After his service time, the family returned to the Sandhills region of Nebraska, to work on the Vinton Ranch south of Gordon. Seven more children were born to the couple through the years. In January, 1969, Margaret passed away after a brave battle with cancer. The family continued working on the ranch, which Alan managed as foreman. In 1973, Alan married Gladyce Simon and the following year purchased a ranch and moved to Idaho. They eventually moved to Shoshone. Throughout Alan's life he was involved in ranching and loved it very much, always looking forward to spring when the new calves were born. In 1992, they sold the ranch and retired, buying a small acreage. Alan then enjoyed a slower pace, surrounded by grown children and grandchildren. Alan is survived by his wife, 12 children and 18 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister and a grandson. To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die. You will always be in our hearts, Grandpa. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 11th at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Rd., Twin Falls.
