Florence LaVerne Aslett 1927 - 2011 Florence LaVerne Peterson Aslett was born to her parents Vernon Wilson Lee and Florence Randall Lee on March 28, 1927. Her brother Charles Alfred (Sonny) Lee was born two years later. As fate would have it, LaVerne and Sonny lost their mother when they were six and four years old. Much later, their father married Rhoda Olsen and LaVerne and Sonny were blessed with three sisters: Patricia, Joyce and Juanita. In 1943, LaVerne married Robert Thompson and they were blessed with a daughter, Saundra. LaVerne later married Dennis Peterson and this union produced three more daughters: Sharon, Marilynn and Denice. Some years later, after the death of Dennis, LaVerne married Artell Aslett and gained three more daughters: Margie, Gloria and Ann. LaVerne lived most of her life in Murtaugh, ID surrounded by her family and friends. She was independent, strong, determined, stubborn, loving and kind. She had a soft spot for anyone who needed a listening ear, a partner in a game of cards or a good meal. Her love of animals and flowers was known to all and was instilled in each of her daughters. LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her sister Patricia Resch, her brother "Sonny" Lee and her daughter Marilynn Peterson. She is survived by her sisters Joyce (Dwaine) Weikle of Atlanta, GA and Juanita (Bill) Dzienis of Sun City, AZ. Her daughters Saundra (Ted) Dean, Hazelton, ID; Sharon (Ken) Marchetti, Boise, ID; Denice (Steve) Peterson-Greene, Camano Island, WA. Her step daughters, Margie (Tino) Savala, Colorado Springs, CO; Gloria (Dan) Johnson, Twin Falls, ID; and Ann (Larry) Admire, Hansen, ID. She is also survived by 11 Grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Twin Falls, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, LaVerne requested donations be made to an animal charity of your choice.
