Bob was born October 23, 1930 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Roy C. and Myrl Skinner Holloway. The family, including two younger brothers; Clayton and Steve, resided permanently in southwest Twin Falls on a small farm. Bob attended school at Curry Union School for his first eight years of education and graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1948. He then attended the University of Idaho for one year while studying agriculture. When Bob was 16 he got a glimpse of his future bride, 14-year-old Barbara Henderson, who was hanging upside down in an apple tree. After returning home from a fun afternoon, Barbara sent Bob a thank you note to which there was no reply. She later learned his family had teased him unmercifully and he was too embarrassed to contact her. A few years later, her aunt, Effie Roberts, set them up on a date when she was 17 and he was 19. They went to a movie, where he slept through most of it. Three dates and three days later, they were engaged. They wrote letters daily over the course of a year while she was finishing high school in Parma, ID; and took turns traveling by bus on a monthly basis to see one another. They married in Boise on August 26, 1950 and moved south of Twin Falls, where their lifetime of farming and dairying began. The following September their first son, Mike was born. Followed shortly thereafter by their daughter Victoria. After a well needed rest, their daughter Ann arrived 2 years later. Mike developed type 1 diabetes just prior to Ann's birth. His diagnosis would change the way they lived their lives. In 1957, Bill, her only redhead was born. The family moved to Buhl and two years later their fifth and final child, John was born. After leaving the farm they relocated to Filer, Jerome and Wendell, finally settling back on the family farm in Twin Falls. This meant five children in a one bedroom house with no indoor plumbing; remodeling quickly ensued. Bob worked full-time in Agribusiness while maintaining a small dairy to support his family. In 1976, Bob began his 17 year career with Cenex, a large farm supply cooperative in Spokane, WA. During those 17 years he traveled every highway in Washington, Oregon and Idaho providing public relations and employee training. In 1990, Bob traveled to Pakistan with Volunteers for Cooperative Development. While he was there he helped develop dairy and marketing strategies for third world countries. Later he would have the opportunity to assist in; Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Armenia and Ethiopia where his wife Barbara and his brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Virginia Holloway also went along to lend a hand. After Bob's retirement in 1992, they came home to Twin Falls so they could be close to their kids and most importantly, their grandkids. They returned to farming and serving the community in a variety of ways, which was a natural role for Bob to fill as he had been involved in his church and various organizations for most of his life, including; Kiwanis, Lions, Southern Idaho Holstein and Guernsey and 4-H. He also served as a board member for; State FFA Alumni Association, National FFA Alumni, Reardan Lutheran Church, Spokane Ag Bureau, Balanced Rock Soil Conservation, and First Baptist Church. In 1980, he received the FFA American Farmer Award for his years of service and in 2009 he and Barbara were awarded the Lifetime Ministries Award from First Baptist Church. In retirement, Bob enjoyed camping with family, being a member of the Southern Idaho Draft Horse and Mule Assoc. with his son Bill, skiing with Dick Uppiano, bike riding, gardening, walking with Barbara along the canal bank, carrying for variety of farm animals, irrigating with his beloved dogs Heidi and Jill, judging at the various county fairs, teaching Sunday School, attending his weekly care group with treasured friends, having coffee at Curry while bragging about his 13 grandchildren's accomplishments and sharing his latest mule adventure. He particularly enjoyed watching two of his great-grandchildren every Friday morning where he shared his love of four-legged friends and the beauty of the outdoors. He will be missed by; his wife of 60 years, Barbara, his brother Steve (Virginia) Holloway; his children, Victoria (John) Holloway Berglund, Ann (Scott) Bybee, Bill (Leslie) Holloway, John (Jody) Holloway; grandchildren Travis (Sara) Holloway, Anna Holloway, Uriah (Leah) Holloway, Anza (Steve) Fullmer, Adam (Laura) Holloway, Eli Holloway, Sayrd( DR) Mellos, Majken (Mike Goodrich) Berglund, Skylar( Danielle Park) Iverson, Caleb (Emily Huson) Holloway, Shawn (Mycah) Bybee, Kelsi Holloway, and Jax Berglund; his great-grandchildren Vosh Mellos, Brynlee and Quinton Fullmer and baby Bybee due late July. He will be joining his brother Clayton, son Mike, granddaughter Erin, nephew Jeremy and many family and friends. Bob Holloway (age 80) died Wednesday, April 6 from injuries sustained while skiing at Pomerelle, with his older friend Dick. As his wife said Wednesday night," Not everyone is so lucky to bounce out of life doing what they love!" A Celebration of Life will be held Palm Sunday, April 17 at 2 PM, First Baptist Church 910 Shoshone St. in Twin Falls.
