Dr. Ivin M. Jackson, DVM

February 8, 1912 — March 14, 2011

Dr. Ivin M. Jackson 1912 - 2011 Dr. Ivin Monell Jackson, 99, died Monday, March 14, 2011, at St. Luke's Magic Valley Hospital, surrounded by family. lvin, the 5th of 13 children of pioneer heritage, was raised in Manassa, Colorado, where he spent much of his youth herding sheep. After graduating from high school in 1931, he attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, obtaining a degree in Veterinary Medicine. During World War II, he was given a commission in the Veterinary Corps at Fort Snelling, Minnesota, ultimately obtaining the rank of Major. lvin married his dearest sweetheart, Alice Eleanor Partridge, September 4, 1938, in Windsor, Colorado, the couple later solemnizing their marriage in the ldaho Falls Temple. After several moves, the couple established long-term residence in Kimberly, ldaho. Beginning in 1945, lvin joined his brother, Dr. Delwyn A. Jackson, at the Twin Falls Veterinary Hospital where they practiced together for approximately 40 years. Following lvin's retirement, lvin and Alice served a two-year mission in Micronesia between the years of 1984 and 1986 for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. lvin was an active member of his church and served in various capacities. Everyone who knew lvin enjoyed his quick wit and dry sense of humor. He was consummately devoted to his family; was deeply compassionate and giving toward others; and reverenced all life. lvin was known for his patriotic dedication to his country and for his extended community service. The couple was awarded the Kimberly Good Neighbor Lifetime Achievement Award in 1993 and named Honorable Mention in 2002. Suffering a stroke in 2002, and thereafter confined to a wheel chair, lvin gracefully bore his physical disability without complaint, always cheerful and good-humored toward others. For a number of years, he - and, to a lesser extent, Alice - received 24-hour in-home care from dedicated and loving caregivers, who, as well as the family, mourn his passing. lvin's family gratefully extends their deepest appreciation to these caretakers for their devoted service. lvin's family would also like to thank all those involved in the Kimberly Senior Citizen Center where he enjoyed lunch three times a week with very special friends and where he was treated so kindly and generously. lvin was preceded in death by ten of his siblings. ln 2007, he lost his cherished wife, Alice, of 69 years. lvin is survived by the couple's four children: JoAnn (Bill Darrow) Larsen; Jerry (Mickey) Jackson; Janet(Paul) Holcomb; and Eric (Nan) Jackson. lvin is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 22 great -grandchildren.
