Jay T. Dockstader

Jay T. Dockstader, 86, passed away peacefully, at home, on Thursday March 3, 2011. Jay was born on July 9, 1924 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lavern and Viva Morgan Dockstader. He was the second of three children. He had a brother, Dale Dockstader, and a sister, Venice Sharp. He graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1942. Jay married Irene Inez Drake on June 22,1947. From this union he had three children Cheryl Dockstader Lagrave, Karen Dockstader and Penny Dockstader. Irene passed away in 1978. He married Pauline (Billie) Bird Nov. 18, 1983. From 1943 to 1946 he served in the Army as a medic, on the European Front, during WWII. He was honorably discharged. Jay was a long time resident of Twin Falls. In his early years he was an avid golfer, waterskier, hunter, fisherman and snowmobiler. He always enjoyed camping and being outside. He managed Hudson's Shoe store for 24 years before purchasing it in 1971 and owned it for 20 years. He was a former member of The Elks. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was a favorite of theirs, with many nicknames Papa, Papa Jay, Grampy and Grampa. Jay is survived by his wife Pauline Dockstader of Twin Falls, his three daughters Cheryl Dockstader Lagrave of Cave Creek, Az, Karen Dockstader of Albuquerque, NM, Penny Dockstader of Twin Falls, two stepsons Stan Bird of Kimberly and Randy Bird of Hailey. He has 10 grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Lavern and Viva, his wife Irene, his brother Dale and his sister Venice. A viewing for Jay will be held March 8, 2011, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Parke's Funeral home. There will be a graveside service at Sunset Memorial Park, Wednesday March 9, 2011 at 3:00 pm.
