GENE L. GLENN August 17, 1922 - March 3, 2011 On March 3, 2011, heaven's gates opened wide to welcome Gene L. Glenn. He passed away at St. Luke's Hospital in Boise, Idaho from complications related to congestive heart failure. The 88 year old husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend was born on August 17, 1922 in Wellsville, Utah, to Harold and Jane Glenn. Gene graduated from Cache Valley High School in 1941, and moved to Twin Falls, Idaho where he lived for the remainder of his life. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine in World War II. On October 19, 1947, Gene married Ruth Bilbao and started his career at Twin Falls Tractor and Implement in 1948. He began as a mechanic, but when he began selling farm equipment , he found his true "nitch". He became familiar with many farmers and ranchers in the Magic Valley area and in Nevada. He purchased the business in 1969 and he and Ruth became the sole owners. In 1979, with great pride, he built a new facility that the business has operated out of since. Gene had the ability to seize opportunity, so he expanded to Jerome, Idaho with the opening of Northside Implement. The work relationships that started when Gene's selling career began continue on today, through the next generation of those representing our agricultural communities. Gene was a long time member of Blue Lakes Country Club and a lifetime member of the Snake River Elks Lodge. He served on the dealer advisory board for New Holland farm equipment company. In his younger years, he enjoyed water skiing, hunting, fishing, gardening and piloting his own airplane. He was an avid golfer and loved to play cards. Gene and Ruth traveled throughout the United States, Europe and Mexico, and for the past 30 years they spent the winter months at their home in Hawaii. Gene was a hard working, self made man who taught his family values that will be passed onto generations to come. Nothing was more important to him than caring for his family. Gene was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers. Surviving Gene is his wife of 63 years, Ruth, his three daughters Julie Ann (Bob) Wildman, Jeannine (Randy) Berriochoa, and Carla Glenn, all of Twin Falls, 4 grandchildren Wesly Gene Standley, Twin Falls, Amaya, Kattalina and Kristiana Berriochoa from Boise, Idaho. A celebration of life will be held at St. Edward's Catholic Church on Thursday March 10, 2011 at 1:00pm, with Father Meinrad Schallberger officiating. Interment will be held following services at the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Twin Falls, Idaho. All Services are under the direction of Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home of Twin Falls Idaho. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to La Posada, Inc. at 355 4th Ave W. Twin Falls, Idaho 83301, the Ascension Priory at 541 E. 100 S., Jerome, Idaho 83338 or to a charity of choice.
