Phillip Clair McEwen 1943 - 2011 Phillip Clair McEwen passed away Monday, January 31, 2011 at his home in Hansen, Idaho. He was born May 14, 1934, the fifth child of O rlo Clair McEwen and Jessie Irene Marlin. He grew up in the Hansen and Kimberly areas and graduated from Kimberly High School in 1952. He was drafted into the Army and served in the Corp of Engineers prior to meeting his wife. He married Janus Sherwood on October 28, 1960 and to that marriage were born two sons, Curtis and Jeff. Phillip and Janus opened their home to other children and through this added Tina, Ted and Tammy. They were forever joined as a family on March 7, 1980 in the LDS Idaho Falls Temple. Phillip worked as a dairyman and farmer for his entire life before retiring. He was a dedicated scout, serving for over 15 years as a Webelos Cub Master. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served as Sunday School President, Ward Clerk and Executive Secretary. He was active in his High Priest group. Dad loved working with wood and one of his most memorable projects was wooden rocking horses for his grandchildren. He was proud of his grandchildren and never missed a blessing or a baptism or wedding reception. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Russell, sister Gene and his son Ted. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janus, sons Curtis (Kathy) of Hazelton; Jeff (Anna) McEwen of Rupert, Tina (David) Robinson of Craig, Colorado and Tammy (Joe) Sanchez of Glenns Ferry; nineteen grandchildren and 10 great children with two on the way. Viewing for Phillip will be held Friday, February, 4, 2011 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, Idaho. Funeral Services for Phillip will be held Saturday, February 5, 2011, at 11:00 AM, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kimberly Stake Center with visitation held for one hour prior (from 10:00 -11:00 a.m.) to services at the church. Interment will follow services at the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Twin Falls, Idaho.
