Boyd Leon Tipton Obituary Children.cry only tears of joy for the Lord is my keeper and He has called me home. Boyd Tipton, 77, of Filerloving dad, grandpa, and great grandpa was reunited with the Lord on January 11, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Dec. 16, 1933 at home in West Plains, MO., son of Adam and Thelma Tipton. At the age of seven they moved to Mesa, AZ where the family worked in the Citrus Orchards. When his dad was drafted into the Navy the family moved to Pasco, WA. While Boyd was in the sixth grade they moved to Castleford, ID and eventually made their home in Filer, ID. He graduated 8th grade at Moroa School; and attended Filer High School where he was a member of "Who's Who of High School Athletes (Western States)." He graduated high school in 1952 with a basketball scholarship; but chose a different road. In 1953 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he was a teletype & encrypto mechanic. He spent 15 months stationed in Alaska. Christmas day 1956 he married the love of his life, Wilma Edwards. Their first home was in Gene Autrey, OK near the Ardmore Air Force base. He was discharged from service in September 1957. They moved back to Filer, ID. There he worked first at Bean Growers, and then at ACME Mfg. for 30 years. He was a member of the Baptist church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, but his greatest joy of all was spending time with his familyhis children, grand children and great great grand children. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Wilma, son Sol (Sally) Tipton, Richfield, ID, daughters Deborah (Gerald) Haye and Susan (Clayton) Depew both of Filer and daughters Kelli (Tim) Shetler and Teresa (Janard L) Jones both of Twin Falls.11 grand children, 16 great grand children 2 sisters Irene (Wayne) Easterday of Castleford, ID, and Nolena (Beryl) Percy, of Goldbar, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one grand daughter, and one great grandson. Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 17, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Rd., Twin Falls, ID.
