Earvin Joseph Martin 1925 -2010 Earvin Joseph Martin was born March 19, 1925 in Spaulding, Oklahoma to Georgie and Ernest Martin. He grew up in Holdenville, Oklahoma, where at the age of 16 he joined the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. While stationed in California, he met his future wife Sondra, they married and had two daughters, Julie and Dargie. Earvin (Our Father) was a welding engineer and opened his own business, where he made ornamental fences and gates; which he loved doing and he could make anything you asked for. He moved to Acton, California with his family. There along with his wife and daughter Julie, he built two houses. He loved country living and enjoyed raising all his animals. He had horses, a pet pig named Queenie and plenty of dogs and cats. Earvin moved back to Oklahoma after his beloved wife Sondra passed away, to be near his sister Margaret. This last summer, he moved to Nevada to be near his daughters and moved in with his daughter,Dargie. Earvin (Our Father) was preceded in death by his parents, Georgie and Ernest, his beloved wife Sondra and his sister Margaret. Surviving Earvin are his two daughters, Julie (Terry) and Dargie (Dick), his grandson Richard (Irene) and great granddaughter, Erin. Earvin was a proud member of the VFW. He was proud that he had served our country at Guadal Canal, and was one of the youngest seamen there. He told many stories about his experiences while serving during World War II. He loved to socialize and Mike liked just about everyone he ever met. Our father will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him, especially his family as he was truly loved.
