Edwin Leo Hill 1923 - 2010 Edwin Leo Hill, age 87 of Twin Falls, Idaho passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2010 at St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls, Idaho. Edwin was born May 1, 1923 in Ironton, Ohio, the son of Lawrence and Clara Hill. He grew up and attended St. Lawrence grade school and St. Joseph High School in Ironton. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy as a field medic attached to the US Marines in the Pacific theater during World War II. He served from October 22, 1942 till October 21, 1945 and was honorably discharged. On June 7, 1945, he married Carol Marie Hortel in Ironton, Ohio. For employment, Edwin apprenticed and worked as a journeyman for his father-in-law, George (Ty) Hortel until the mid-1950's when they moved to Santa Monica, California. There, he worked as a carpenter and was employed at TRW Aerospace in Manhattan Beach, California. In 1972, Edwin relocated to Seligman, Arizona where he built and operated the KOA campground. He was employed by the Seligman, AZ school district and retired there in 1985. His love of carpentry kept him active, serving his church, friends, family and community with his building skills for many years. Edwin was an active member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Seligman, Arizona. In February of 2010, he moved to Twin Falls where he resided until his death. Surviving Edwin, is his wife Carol (Hortel) Hill of Twin Falls, daughter Carolyn Sue (Ron McGee)Rydgren of Greeley, CO, and Son, Michael Edwin (Carol) Hill of Twin Falls, Idaho. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Edwin was preceded in death by his father Lawrence Hill, his mother Clara Hill, and brothers Paul and Gordon Hill. Friends of the family are welcome to an Open House, to be held at the home of Mike and Carol Hill, 519 Grand View Dr. Twin Falls, ID. on Sunday, November 7, 2010 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. A Funeral Mass and Interment will be held in Greeley, Colorado on Saturday, November 13, 2010.
