OBITUARY OF M. D. (BUD) BAGLEY M. D. "Bud" Bagley, Born Dec 11, 1932,, the son of Daniel Westley Bagley and Vallie Lavada (Bartlett) Bagley, in Twin Falls, Idaho. Known in life as Merwin D. ("Bud"), he was called "Bud" or "Buddy" Bagley. He graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1950; later he received an Associate Degree in Printing at Idaho State College (ISU), at Pocatello, Idaho in 1953; he was inducted into the U. S. Army Signal Corps., and spent time in Camp San Luis Obispo, California, and Fort Richardson, Alaska; and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. He was an active member of the LDS Church--serving in many and varied positions, and was a High Priest. He served a mission for the LDS Church in Argentina, S.A. for 2 l/2 years, and then served officially as a missionary most of his life. He also completed another mission call to the Buhl LDS Spanish Branch for 27 months from 1994 to 1996. Upon returning home from his mission to Argentina, S.A., he married his sweetheart, Nina M. Westmoreland, of Tremonton, Utah on his birthday, December 11, 1957, after a 4 l/2 years of courtship, while she waited for him through his military service and mission. They raised four (4) children--two (2) daughters: JoAlene de Pineda (Mario), Anaheim, California. Dawna Marie Ward (Rick), of Preston, Idaho; five (2) sons: Jeffrey (Jeff) Lynn Bagley, of Twin Falls; and Dee Westley Bagley, of Twin Falls. They have five (5) grandchildren. He was a Journeyman Printer, and later worked for two large newspapers--The Salt Lake Tribune, and the Deseret News, in Salt Lake City. He was later employed at United Press International News Service, in Salt Lake City, and San Francisco, California; then he worked at the Amalgamated Sugar Company, in the Storeroom in Twin Falls, where he remained until he retired in 1997. He loved to fish and hunt, and be in the out-of-doors. His literary interest was spent pursuing his writing skills, where he wrote several books of poems, stories and other articles, about his experiences in life, with other subjects. He always tried to practice the Christian principles of charity and benevolency. He loved people, being known as a helper of the aged, sick and needy. He loved to share whatever he had--garden vegetables, meat, fish, baked cakes, and fresh homemade bread which he baked regularly, as a hobby. He loved his family dearly, and always tried to provide well for them. He tried to do things together with the family, and taught them sound moral principles of how to be successful in life. He never aspired to affluency, wealth or position if life, but took advantage of those opportunities he had. He was honest in all his dealings, and treated people as his equals. He was known to finish any job, task or assignment, and was fully committed to the end of each one, until near the end of his life, when he was unable to do so. He was loyal to his family, friends, church and country,, and tried to make life better for others. Survivors are his wife, two sisters, Donna Rae Bagley/Call/Carlson; Arta Mae Bagleyl Faulkner, four (4) children, five (5) grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the LDS Thirteenth Ward Church building, 847 Eastland Dr. North, west of the Twin Falls Temple on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 10:30 A.M., interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls. Friends may call Friday, October 22, 2010 from 5 - 7 P.M. at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly, RD, Twin Falls and from 9:00 A.M. to service time at the church on Saturday. Arrangements are under the direction of Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home of Twin Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any gifts be sent to a favorite charity, such as the Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City.
