Twin Falls, Idaho Richard Allen Pence 1928 - 2010 Richard Allen Pence, age 81, was born November 9, 1928 in Braymer, Missouri. He was the oldest of three children born to Jacob and Geneva Pence. He passed away March 12, 2010 in Yuma, Arizona. He graduated from Braymer High School in 1946. After graduation he went to work in Kansas City, Missouri before enlisting in the US Army in 1948. He served in the Japanese occupation forces in Kyoto, Japan. He was discharged in December of 1949 and returned to Twin Falls, Idaho to marry Carolyn Sue McNew also of Braymer, Missouri on January 7, 1950. In September of 1950 he was reactivated in the Army Reserve to serve in the Korean War until July of 1951. After his discharge he returned to Twin Falls. He worked for 13 years in sales for Step-Ken Auto Parts Company. He then entered the insurance business working for Paul Revere and Sierra Life Insurance Companies. He was the policy service director for Sierra Life for 9 years. In 1978 he was appointed as Clerk of the District Court/County Clerk of Twin Falls County and after two subsequent reelections, retired in 1991. He was a member of Valley Christian Church. He was a 50 year member and Past Master of Twin Falls Masonic Lodge #45 AF&AM, a 50 year member and Past Patron of Twin Falls Chapter #29 Order of Eastern Star, Past Associate Guardian of Bethel #43 International Order of Job's Daughters, a member of El Korah Shrine and Twin Falls Shrine Club, Royal Arch Masons # 16, Cryptic Masons Council #7, Grand Commandery Knights Templar # 10. He was also a member of Snake River Elks Lodge #2807 BPOE and American Legion Post #7 in Twin Falls. While his children were growing up, he served as a Boy Scout Master and on the adult council of Campfire Girls as well as President of PTA and PTSA. He is survived by a son, Philip Pence of Twin Falls, a daughter, Julie (Thomas) Foree of Holbrook, AZ., two grandchildren, Brynn Foree and Tyler Foree of Holbrook, a brother Randall (Faye) Pence of Kansas City, MO and a sister-in-law Dixie Pence of Braymer, MO. He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn, his parents and his brother Roger Pence of Braymer, MO Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Valley Christian Church in Twin Falls, Idaho with Pastor John Babb officiating. Interment will be held following services at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Twin Falls, Idaho. A Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 23, 2010 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, Idaho. All services and arrangements are under the direction of the Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home of Twin Falls, Idaho. Those wishing to share condolences may do so at www.magicvalleyfuneralhome.com.
