Phyllis Kay Sipe was born on April 30, 1939 to Mabel and Walter Miller. She passed away on March 8, 2010 in Twin Falls, Idaho. Kay was the oldest of three girls, raised in rural Pennsylvania on a one family dairy farm. She graduated from high school then began a long distance courtship with Air Force Airman Luther Reed Sipe while working at a local sewing factory. Luther and Kay were married on April 12, 1958 and began married life in Denver Colorado at Lowry Air Force Base. They moved back to Pennsylvania where they had their three children. The young family had the opportunity to live in Ft. Lauderdale Florida for over a year and enjoy the sunshine. Luther later took a job that brought them to Idaho where they remained with the exception of spending some time in Southern California and Arizona. Kay had a lifelong interest in everything fabric. Most of her employment was working with fabric from sewing factories and upholstery shops to retail sales. She was an amazing seamstress and made many heirloom quilts for her family. She had recently acquired an embroidery machine and was learning its many intricacies. She was a talented artist with both drawing and painting. She had won several blue ribbons at the county fair for her artwork. Luther and Kay celebrated their 50th Wedding anniversary April 2009. It was a very special celebration and a delightful time for the family and all their friends. Kay was active with the Hearts and Hands quilting group as well as a membership in the Magic Valley Orchid Society, and a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. She is survived by her husband Luther Sipe; Two sisters: Elaine Walker, Stoystown Pennsylvania, Audrey (Tom) Kimmel, Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania. Three children: Jennifer(Ronald) Dalton of Cedar City, Utah, Lori(Timothy)Tomlinson and Gary (Katie) Sipe of Twin Falls. Six grandchildren: Sarah Dalton, Chicago, Illinois, Nicolas Dalton, Cedar City, Utah, Andrea and Ashley Tomlinson, Twin Falls, Idaho, Christiana and Jason Sipe, Tacoma Washington as well as her extended family in Pennsylvania. She adored her grandchildren and spent a great deal of her time being involved with them in their interests and activities. Services will be held Monday, March 15, 2010 at 10:00 am at Our Savior Lutheran Church 464 Carriage Lane N. Twin Falls, Idaho. A Visitation will be held Sunday, March 14, 2010 from 3:00 -5:00 P.M. at the Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home 2551 Kimberly Road,Twin Falls.
