Clifford L. Hallstead 1931 - 2009 Clifford L. Hallstead, age 77 of Twin Falls, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at his home in Twin Falls with his loving wife Janice by his side. Clifford was born December 10, 1931 in Bozeman, MT to Frank E. and Mildred Greenlund Hallstead. Clifford grew up and attended schools at Elk Grove Grade School and graduated from Gallatin County High School in Bozeman. Clifford served in the US Marine Corps after high school and after being honorably discharged he returned to Bozeman where he worked delivering ice, then as a bartender and a salesman. On November 28, 1954, he married Janice Storey in Miles City, Montana. To this union were born three children, Larry, Janet and Susan. He then moved to Tacoma, WA in 1968 and called it "Home" until retirement. There he took a job as a Meat Cutter and in 1993, retired as the Head Meat Cutter at Piggly Wiggly stores in Tacoma, WA. Cliff always stayed busy with projects, such as flying, fishing, boating, camping, dune buggy riding, taking pictures and drinking Coors Light with his many friends. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. Cliff and Janice made many new friends after Cliff's retirement, when they were able to travel during the winter months South in their 5th Wheel trailer to Arizona, Las Vegas and Big River California. Cliff and Janice would spend their summers in Manhattan, Montana, and had only recently settled in Twin Falls, Idaho. He was known as "Grampy" to his grandchildren, he enjoyed life and his family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving Cliff is his loving wife of 54 years, Janice of Twin Falls, ID, daughter, Susan Hallstead of Tacoma, WA, and Janet Holm of Puyallup,WA, sisters, Betty Freeland of Bozeman, MT and Carol Francis of Belgrade, MT; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Mildred Hallstead, one sister, Elaine Sanders and by his son, Larry Hallstead. Memorial Services for Cliff will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. at the American Legion Club in Manhattan, Montana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to Hospice Visions, 209 Shoup Avenue W.
