Helen Jeanne Atkinson-Twin Falls After a long battle with heart and kidney failure Helen Jeanne Atkinson passed away Friday, May 8, 2009 at St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center. Helen was born on March 24, 1927. She grew up and attended schools in Twin Falls, Filer and Boise. Helen and Donald Atkinson were married July 20, 1947. After graduating from Twin Falls High School in 1945 and while waiting for her husband to get out of the service she attended Southern Idaho College of Education receiving her teachers Diploma. Helen started her teaching career at Bickel Grade School in Twin Falls. Besides teaching for 32 years at Valley School District, she raised her three children while taking correspondence courses and traveling to Pocatello for summer school earning her Bachelors of Arts from Idaho State University. Helen played the piano for the Codas singing group and Valley Presbyterian Church, besides the piano Helen liked to do crafts, camping, rock hunting, her flower garden and spending winters in Arizona with her husband. Helen belonged to the Rebekah Lodge, Legion Auxiliary, Good Sams Travelers Club, Magic Valley Gem Club, Friendship Club at Hazelton and Valley Presbyterian Church. Helen is survived by her husband, Don; daughter, Pat (Steve) Hadley; sons, Larry (Vickie) Atkinson; Jeff Atkinson; three grandchildren, Andy Atkinson; Brian Hadley; Luke Hadley; her loving great-grandchildren and brother-in-law, Tom Falash. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Diane Falash. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009 with visitation for friends and family from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009 and one hour prior to the service at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls.
