Angela Hoops

Angela was born July 11, 1966 at Magic Valley Memorial Hospital in Twin Falls, Idaho. She passed away May 6, 2009 of a sudden illness at St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center. She lived the majority of her life in Twin Falls. She also lived for a short time in Provo, Utah while attending Brigham Young University and Caldwell, Idaho while employed as a school counselor at Vallivue High School. She attended elementary school at Emmanuel Lutheran in Twin Falls. Angela graduated from Filer High School. She obtained an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts and an Associate of Arts degree in Marketing from the College of Southern Idaho, Twin Falls, Idaho. Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah and Master of Counseling degree in School counseling from Idaho State University, Pocatello, Idaho. Angela was currently employed as School Counselor at Buhl High School, Buhl, Idaho. She held the following Licenses and Certification: National Certified Counselor; Licensed Professional Counselor; Certified School Counselor, grades K-12 State of Idaho; Registered Counseling Supervisor, State of Idaho; Certified Career Counselor, State of Idaho. She had been School Counselor at Vallivue High School, Caldwell, Idaho and Wendell School District, Wendell, Idaho. Angela was very active in professional and civic organizations. She was a member of the following: American Counseling Association; American School Counselor Association; National Association for College Admissions Counselors; Idaho ACT Leadership Council-Chairperson, 2007-2009; Idaho Counseling Association; Membership Chair 2003-present; Idaho School Counselor Association, President, July 2002-July 2003; Vice President Central Region, July 1998-July 2002; Scholarship Coordinator, January 2003-present; Membership Chair, July 2003-present; Idaho Career Development Association, President, 2004-2005; Idaho State Counseling Program Advisory Board, Oct 2000-June 30, 2003; Magic Valley Counselors Association, President, 1998-1999; Wendell Chamber of Commerce, President 2001. In 2004 she was awarded Idaho School Counselor of the Year by the Idaho School Counselor Association. Angela was a member of the Twin Falls Seventh Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Bishop G. Richard Smack will conduct the service. One of Angela's great loves was her two yorkies, Claire and Rocky. She loved to feed those treats and take them for long walks up to a mile. They were great comfort to her. Angela's passion was counseling her students. Her whole life revolved around counseling and helping students to obtain scholarships. She was always studying to keep up with the newest methods to help her students. She worked long hours preparing for job fairs and other activities to help the students. Angela was a very loving daughter, sister, aunt and great aunt. Angela is survived by her mother, Mrs. William R. (Marge) Hoops of Twin Falls; brothers, Robert (Ann) Easterling of Texas; Edward (Janice) Easterling of Kimberly; Douglas Easterling of Texas; sisters, Karen Cypert of Texas; Sharon (Sil) Arce of Texas; Tina Pittman of Texas and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, William R. Hoops of Twin Falls; brothers, Douglas R. Hoops and William F. Hoops; grandparents, Fred and Ruby Hoops of Twin Falls; Oma and John Stockard and Johnnie Hicks of Texas. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at the Buhl High School gym, 525 Sawtooth Ave in Buhl. A viewing will be held for family and friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 8, at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls.
