Rev. George Duncan

OBITUARY OF REV. GEORGE DUNCAN George Duncan, 87, of Jerome, passed away February 24, 2009 at St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls. He was born June 26, 1921 in West Plains, Missouri, the son of Clarence and Berta Bacon Duncan. On May 10, 1937 in West Plains, Missouri, he married the love of his life, Edith Alma Henry. Together they had six children. In 1958 George and Edith opened their hearts and family to a beautiful adopted daughter, Carol Johnson. George was in the US Navy during WWII, and received a Medical Discharge. Even though he was 100% disabled he never let that get him down. He heard a calling from the Lord and became an Ordained Minister of the Gospel for the Assemblies of God Church. George pioneered three churches for the Assemblies of God. Faith Assembly, Twin Falls, Idaho, Mount Vernon Assembly of God, Mount Vernon, Illinois and Calvary Assembly of God, Buhl, Idaho. George and Edith traveled the United States extensively as Evangelists for many years. Throughout his life he enjoyed restoring cars, playing the piano, guitar, banjo and singing. His family greatly enjoyed listening to him play his instruments and sing. Surviving are his wife - Edith Duncan of Jerome, Daughters - Lois Stephens of Nampa, ID, Barbara Hoshaw of Jerome, ID, Beverly Kirby of Lafayette, TN, Pat Pollard of Twin Falls and Carol Johnson of Lewiston, ID, Sons - George Duncan Jr. of Orofino, ID, Dan Duncan of West Plains, MO, along with 28 grandchildren 79 great grandchildren and 35 great-great grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Berta Duncan, one brother - Rev. Burl Duncan, two son-in-laws -James A. Rhoades and Rev. Theron Piper, two Grandsons- Tommy Hoshaw, and Jeffrey Duncan and one granddaughter Stephanie Duncan. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, February 27, 2009 at the 1st Assembly of God, 143 Locust Street North, Twin Falls. Arrangements are under the direction of Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls.
