Donald (Don) C. Pruett, 85 of Buhl, Idaho went home to be with Jesus on October 21, 2008 at St. Luke's MagicValley Regional Medical Center. Don was born on February 5, 1923 in Augusta, Kansas to Gusta John Nathan Pruett and Gertie Chloe Hawkins Pruett. He and his siblings were raised mostly in Missouri, attending school there. He later attended Life Bible College in Los Angeles, California. He served his country during World War II in the Air Force. He was awarded 4 medals including "The Good Conduct Medal". After being Honorably discharged in 1945 he worked in the oil fields in Kansas for several years before moving to California, where he met and married "Marie" his wife of 53 years. Together they had 3 children. Don was a pilot and started Thunderbird Aviation with 4 partners. He was given a racecar in place of payment for flying time and went out and won his very first race. His racing career spanned almost 20 years with Nascar.. He retired from Metropolitan Water District in Los Angeles in 1982 and moved to Idaho in 1984, where he farmed and Raised Morgan Horses until just a few years ago. Don attended Calvary Assembly of God Church in Buhl where he served as a Board Member for several years. He truly loved the Lord. He was an honest, hard working and trustworthy man. Don is survived by his Wife Marie; daughters Donna and Lynn of Buhl, Son Dana (Christie) of Filer; grandchildren Ryan of Buhl and Kindra of Filer; one brother BeVaughn (Phyllis) of Cherryvale, Kansas and sister June (Bruce) of Jacksboro, Texas; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Dannah, Arnold and Johnny Wayne Pruett and a Nephew, Ron Donham.. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Buhl, Idaho with Burial to follow at the West End Cememtery. Arrangements are under the direction of Parkes Magic Valley Funeral Home.
