Clarence Pratt Parker

December 30, 1918 — October 8, 2008

Clarence Pratt Parker - Twin Falls Clarence Parker, 89 died peacefully at the home of his precious companion, Helen Doherty on October 8, 2008 Clarence was born on December 30, 1918 in Rupert, Idaho, to Parley Pratt Parker and Margaret Fowles. He graduated in 1939 from Burley High School, where he excelled in his scholastic studies, Little Theatre, tumbling and was voted Vice-President of his Senior Class. Clarence's high school quote was, "You may think I'm bashful-well, I'm not!" We all recognized bashful' as one of his wonderful characteristics, topped off with a scoop on hilarious quick wit and playful pranks! Following high school, Clarence attended Albion State College, earned his teaching certificate and honorably served his country during World War II as a Gunnery instructor. His Bachelor's Degree in Education was acquired at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Years later Clarence obtained a Master's Degree of Education in Administration from Utah State University. He began his long and successful career teaching in Paul, Idaho, then transferred to O'Leary and Robert Stuart Jr. High in Twin Falls. Parker (as he was affectionately referred to by his beloved friends) enjoyed teaching mathematics and could often be seen rowing a rowdy raft down the Salmon River overflowing with his energized students! Clarence became the principal of Bickel and Morningside Elementary Schools before retiring in 1983 at the age of 65. The mutual respect and eternal admiration between the teachers that he treasured and the children he devoted his life to, will always be remembered. Clarence loved his community and appreciated the rich scenery, the exceptional people and the abundance of opportunity. He spent many hours volunteering at the Visitor's Center sharing the wonders that our beautiful state has to offer. On May 10, 1947, Clarence married a spunky little brunette, Lenore M. Jenkins, and remained by her side until her death in 2001. Together they raised two daughters, Stephanie G. Gerber (Mark) and Pamela M. Hartley (Bill). Parker was extremely proud of his six grandchildren! (Samantha and Jessica Gerber) (Jake, Natalie, Lauren and Lindsey Hartley) Clarence was a gentle soul that loved living, a great game of golf, a quick Coke with his best friends and a serious game of Pinochle! His warm nature and sweet smile will be sorely missed. (We know you're sitting atop an A-frame hammering nails! We all love you.) Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls.
