Pastor Arthur Crosmer died June 16, 2008, at the age of 84 in his home in Twin Falls, Idaho. Art was born in Roundup, Montana where he attended school until, in preparation for the ministry, he went to Concordia High School and College in St. Paul, Minnesota. He graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri in May 1949. On June 12, 1949 Art and Vera Becker of Concordia, Missouri were married in Shelton, Nebraska. Arthur was ordained as a Pastor in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) on July, 3 1949, serving his first parish, Immanuel Lutheran Church in Powell, Wyoming until 1957. Subsequently, he served Bethlehem Lutheran in Rapid City, South Dakota from 1957-1970. In 1970 Pastor Crosmer was elected to serve as District President of the South Dakota District of the LCMS. In 1978 he was called as Pastor of Immanuel Lutheran in Twin Falls where he served until his retirement in 1989. Art and Vera had four children - Paul who resides in Conway, Arkansas; Julianne in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Charity in Hamden, Connecticut; and Kay who preceded him in death, of Benton City, Washington. Throughout his retirement years in Twin Falls, Art was Secretary of the Monarch Lions Club, delivered meals on wheels and served as the Circuit 11 Counselor for the LCMS. Arthur is survived by his wife Vera; children, Paul; Julianne; Charity; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Walter; sisters, Norma and Irna. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Winifred; step-mother, Rhoda; daughter, Kay; brother, Elmer and sister, Edna. A Memorial Service for Pastor Crosmer will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Twin Falls on Friday, June 20, 2008 at 11 AM. The family will receive greeting from 10-11 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Lutheran World relief in his name.
