Addie Catherine Gose, née Bolyard, age 96, passed away on February 20, 2024, in Twin Falls Idaho, surrounded by her beloved family. Addie was born on June 5, 1927, in Egeland, Towner County, North Dakota, to Garrett Clyde Bolyard and Julia May Gilchrist Bolyard. Addie was the 8th of 9 children. In 1936 her parents moved the family to Idaho in a Model T Ford.
Addie attended schools in Twin Falls, including Bickel Elementary and graduating from Twin Falls High School. She worked at the Orpheum Theater as an usher while in high school and for the Department of Employment after high school. After marriage, Addie worked for 43 years as a bookkeeper for the Warberg Moving and Storage Company.
Addie met her future husband, Chuck Gose, while she was in junior high and roller-skating at the Radio Rendezvous, and he loved to tell the story of how he saw her through the windows and spent the afternoon showing off to her on his bicycle and walking her home that day. After the end of World War II and Chuck was discharged from the Navy, Chuck and Addie married in Elko, Nevada, on August 31, 1947. Together they had two children, Sandy and Garry. They spent over 72 years married together until Chuck’s passing in 2020.
Addie was a very talented painter and her children and grandchildren have many of her beautiful paintings. She loved to bowl on her ladies’ bowling teams and took home many trophies over the years. In her younger years she went camping with family and rode her Trail 90 motorcycle all over the South Hills. She was very fit right up until her last years, likely due to the miles of walking she did every morning with her brother, L.D., and her friend, Ruby. She loved to read books and magazines, and taught her love of reading to her children. She made the best pies that could be had anywhere and no holiday meal was complete without one. She somehow had a never-ending supply of cookies in the cookie jar, which her great-grandchildren especially loved. Her daughter, Sandy, loved to go shopping with her and watch her get excited when she found a new giraffe decoration that she just had to have for her collection. Addie more than once said that she would be remembered in her obituary some day for keeping a clean house, and while it was indeed immaculate, what we remember most of all was that Addie loved her family unconditionally, through the good and the bad, and no one could ever doubt her love and support.
Addie is survived by her daughter, Sandy Goolsby, her son, Garry Gose and his wife, Karen, 4 grandchildren: Jennifer Bergin (Jim), Stephanie Schofield, Jeff Goolsby, and Alisa Goolsby, (Traci); and 6 great grandchildren: Alex, Midian, Ares, Andrew, Maddox, Addie, and Oliver. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles “Chuck” Leroy Gose, her parents, Garrett and Julia Bolyard, her siblings: Irene Phyllis Jarvis, Arby Bolyard, L.D. Bolyard, Charles William Bolyard, Clifford Clyde Bolyard, Walter James Bolyard, Francis May “Babe” Feay, and Clyde J. Bolyard; her son-in-law, Larry Goolsby, and her grandson Charles Justin “C.J.” Gose.
Grandma Addie always, no matter the weather, stood at her front step to wave goodbye with a smile until she couldn’t see you anymore, whether you were travelling far away or across town. We can see her now on heaven’s step waving goodbye to us with a smile. We’ll see you soon, Grandma, and give Grandpa and C.J. a hug from us.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Canyons Retirement Community for their care over the last 3 years and also to Enhabit Hospice Care, especially Shirley, for their comfort and care of mom her last few days. A Celebration of Addie's life will be held in the Spring.
