Bobby Joe Butler, 89, of Twin Falls passed away Sept. 21, 2022 at a local hospital in Twin Falls. He born April 1, 1933, in Birmingham, Alabama; the son of Grace Inez Busby and Alton Thomas Butler. He was joined in his family by brothers: Billy Ray and Alton Wilson Butler. Later they moved to Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Bobby joined the US Army and was sent to Korea. He was there 13 months, living in a fox hole on the front line. He returned to San Francisco and was chosen for the Presidio Honor Guard. He was discharged in December of 1953. On May 1, 1954 he married Geraldine Joslin from Buhl, Idaho. He re-enlisted in the Army in September of 1954 in San Antonio and was sent to Headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska, where their first daughter Anna Marie was born. He became an aircraft mechanic and was sent to Mt. Home Air Force Base, where Brenda Lee and Judy Kay where born. He retired from the Air Force in December 1960. They moved to Twin Falls, where he worked and later retired at Amalgamated Sugar. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine of Twin Falls, daughters: Brenda (John) Malone of Twin Falls and Judy Butler of California, granddaughter: Jennifer Aslett of Orcas Island, Wash. and Calli Henderson of Twin Falls, great-grandchildren: Saryn and Felix Henderson of Twin Falls and Jonah and Cyrus Amour of Orcas Island, Wash. He is also survived by his brother Alton Butler of Elizabeth City, NC. Their daughter Anna Marie passed away in 1977. Military graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at 1 pm at the Snake River Canyon National Cemetery in Buhl, Idaho.
