Brad William Serrano

Brad Serrano passed away peacefully Friday November 10th due to injuries sustained in a fall. He was born in Pocatello on January 18, 1971, to Bill and Donna Serrano. Brad was a member of Pocatello High School’s class of 1989, but he also attended Wood River High School for a short time. Brad was an excellent skier. He spent most of his winter weekends skiing Pebble Creek or Sun Valley with his family and friends. Neither place had enough black diamonds to slow him down. Golf was fun for Brad as he won almost every tournament he entered as a teen. In later years he enjoyed golfing at the Big Wood Golf course with friends. Brad loved to cook. While in grade school, he surprised his family with an excellent meal, using the advice he received after calling Pocatello’s Sand Piper. This passion never ended. Brad, Scott and Bill spent many days hunting grouse, pheasants and geese back when the hunting was good and permission came easy. Brad loved to hunt deer with his muzzle loader. Brad’s hunting eventually turned into skeet, trap and sporting clay shoots in the Wood River valley and across southern Idaho. Fly fishing held Brad’s interest all his life. Many evenings Brad and his brother made their own flies with instructions from their dad. Summer vacations were often spent in Montana on the Gallatin River. At that time the river was full of fish and almost empty of fishermen. Weekends were spent camping in the Wood River Campground so they could fish the river there. Fishing expanded when Brad and his dad went to Cabo where they caught so many marlin they told the guides to take them back to shore, they’d had their fill. Brad enjoyed showing his nephew Martin things like guns, fly rods, and other manly stuff that nephews need to see. After moving to Hailey, Brad worked in the pool and spa industry where many clients called him their expert, which he certainly was. For many years Brad worked as a Service Manager. The owner clearly summed up the opinions of so many of Brad's clients when he wrote: ‘Brad is incredibly good at "crunching numbers” and makes product service look like child's play. He can literally figure out how to fix, change, or re-route any product, and is an absolute whiz at what he does. If you have questions or concerns about your spa, hot tub, or pool Brad will have the answers.’ He loved meeting up with his many friends at the Wicked Spud in Hailey. Brad’s life was filled with so many friends, so much fun and adventures as well as challenges he struggled with off and on, but they never stopped him from getting full enjoyment out of life. Brad was preceded in death by all his Grandparents, his father Bill Serrano and his Aunt, Carmel Serrano Hall. Brad is survived by his mother Donna Serrano of Pocatello (formerly Bellevue), his brother Scott (Wendy) Serrano of Pocatello; his Aunt Josephine O’Donnell of Ambler, PA, Aunt Joanne (Raeo) Atkinson of Pocatello, Aunt Beverly (Larry) Christensen of Idaho Falls as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins scattered across the United States. During pre-school years Brad loved to play with numbers. The biggest number he could come up with was sixteen hundred. The rest of his life, when he talked with his mother, he would always end their conversation with “I love you 1600“. Brad, you may be gone but you’ll never be forgotten. We all love you 1600. At Brad’s request, there will be no services. Pass on his kindness with a big smile to a friend or a stranger, to someone who needs a helping hand, as Brad would have.
