Brenda “Brandi” Joyce Jones, 75, of Twin Falls, ID, peacefully passed away on March 13, 2019. Brandi was born to Ada M. Blankenship and Hoyt L. Fuller on October 7, 1943 in Santa Rosa, California and was later adopted and raised by Clara Clayton and Kenneth Jones. After graduating from Huntington Park High School, Brandi married James L. Shields and together they had their only child, Pamela. After a two-year marriage, Brandi left Southern California with Pamela and moved to Idaho. There she met Jay L. Overmon Sr. and together they had their only child, Jay Jr. After an 8-year marriage, Brandi met her partner, Ruth Simmons. They were together for 38 years. Brandi knew no strangers, she had many friends and was known for her humor and wit. She believed in giving people a chance, a second chance, and sometimes a third. She was truly a champion for the underdog. She was a lover of animals, very artistic and passionate about her feelings and beliefs. Brandi is survived by her partner of 38 years, Ruth Simmons of Twin Falls, ID, daughter Pamela Wright of Roseville, CA, son Jay L. Overmon Jr. (Cheryl) of Kimberly, Idaho, step-children, Sandra Burkhalter of Buhl, ID, and Clay (Kimberly) Burkhalter of Filer, ID, and one sister, Sherry Ek of Garden Valley, ID. Brandi is also survived by her grandchildren; Nicholas J. Wright (Melissa) of Sutherlin, OR and Tara M. Nickens (Austin) of Redding, CA, step-grandchildren, Brandon & Benjamin Burkhalter. Brandi had 6 great-grandchildren; Addyson, Avery, Sophie, Eloise, Conner, Lucy. She was preceded in death by both of her birth parents and adoptive parents, sisters; Marie L. Whelan of Filer, ID and Linda Christensen of Kuna, ID, one brother Larry E. Ek of Twin Falls, ID and granddaughter, Megan Burkhalter. A Celebration of Brandi's life will be held Monday, April 1, 2019 at 4:00 P.M. at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, ID. Cremation is under the direction of Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to The Humane Society of Twin Falls.
