Brian Conrad, age 60, of Jerome, Idaho, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on the evening of February 6, 2021, after an 18-month hard-fought battle with cancer. Brian was born on August 23, 1960 in Twin Falls, Idaho, and was one of four children born to Gerald (Jerry) and Kay Conrad. He graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1978. Brian’s love of the outdoors started at a young age with family camping trips, dirt bike riding, hunting, and fishing. As an avid skier he was always on the hunt for the best snow and terrain in the west and enjoyed a challenge on the slopes. Brian met his wife, Debbie Gaskill, in Twin Falls, February 7, 1985. Brian and Debbie moved to Maine in 1986, occasionally returning to Idaho to visit and were married in Twin Falls on June 27, 1987. In 1990, after 4.5 years of living in Maine, Brian and Debbie returned to Idaho where they raised their two children, Brianna and Braedon Conrad. In January 2017, Brian became united with his oldest daughter, Mary (Abshire) Dohrmann, son-in-law, Matthew and three beautiful grandchildren, Claire, Anna and Juliet. Their close relationship blossomed quickly, and he cherished every moment he was able to spend with them. Brian loved working with his hands and was a true artist and craftsman. This passion began early on as a teen and turned into a lifelong career in woodworking. He developed and honed-in on his skills by working at several local furniture and cabinet shops, before opening his own businesses. Brian owned and operated Riverside Woodcrafters in Maine and Apex Woodcrafters in Twin Falls/Jerome. Another passion of Brian’s was restoring classic cars. His attention to detail and quality craftsmanship were useful skills when working on cars. He was always willing to lend a hand and helped several friends across the valley rebuild and paint their cars, even taking some to shows, including the Detroit Autorama, and winning numerous awards. Brian also enjoyed working on his own “project cars” including his ’89 Porsche 911 Carrera C4 and his ’65 Chevy C10 Pickup originally owned by his dad. As a lifelong Idahoan and passionate outdoorsman, Brian knew Southern Idaho geography like the back of his hand and loved to share that knowledge with family, friends and his children when in the backcountry. Brian left a legacy of being a meticulous worker, a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. His quick smile, love of family and the outdoors, his kindness and selflessness will always be remembered. Brian is survived by his wife of 33 years Debbie of Jerome, ID; daughters, Mary (Matthew) Dohrmann of Milwaukee, WI and Brianna Conrad (Conor Shanahan) of Salt Lake City, UT, son, Braedon Conrad of Jerome, ID; sister, Debbie Wilder of Boise, ID, brother, Chris (Beth) Conrad of Orlando, FL and sister-in-law, Lisa Conrad of Twin Falls, ID; three granddaughters, Claire, Anna and Juliet Dohrmann of Milwaukee, WI; many nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Kay Conrad, brother, Blain Conrad, brother-in-law, Mark Wilder, father-in-law, Ronald Gaskill and mother-in-law, Shirley (Mingo) Gaskill.
