Carole Lee Stennett, age 87 of Buhl, Idaho, passed away on June 3, 2023 in hospice care at St. Luke’s Hospital in Twin Falls, Idaho, due to complications following a stroke. She was surrounded by her family. Carole was born in Clinton, Illinois, on March 14, 1936 to Fannie Halsey and was raised by her grandparents Oscar and Maude Halsey. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1954 and attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois. She returned home to marry her high school sweetheart, William Jesse Stennett. They were married on November 27, 1955 in The First Christian Church in Clinton, Illinois. They made the trek westward with their four children and their dog Jack, first to South Dakota then to Denver, Colorado, eventually settling in Idaho where she taught her children the value of hard work by owning and operating a family dairy farm. Later in life she became a cattle trader where she made a career of buying calves that other buyers overlooked. She earned the respect of other buyers by bringing up the value of orphaned calves and supporting the overall market. Carole was inducted into the Southern Idaho Livestock Hall of Fame on April 14, 2018. She also loved gardening, planting flowers, and animals (especially goats). She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and taught youth classes for 14 years. As a member of the Democrat Party, she was very active in politics. She served on many committees, such as the Office of Aging and the women’s crisis center. Carole was predeceased by her husband William Jesse Stennett, her three children, Clint, Dennis (Bucko), and Molly Stennett, as well as her grandson Andrew Oakman. She is survived by her husband Richard Parrott, her daughters Jennifer Riddle (Dennis), and Kim Brackett (Chet), and her son Andrew Stennett (Sharon). She is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her memorial will be held on Friday July 7, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Thousand Springs Ward building of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 501 Main Street in Buhl Idaho. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Luke’s Hospice of Twin Falls or a charity of your choice.
