Charles Loader Thomson, age 95, of Twin Falls, Idaho passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends on May 4, 2022. Chuck (or “Pops” as he was known to many) was born in Filer, Idaho on April 11, 1927 to Sam and Joyce Thomson. Chuck was youngest of four children. In 1933, Chuck’s parents moved him to Knight’s Landing, California where he spent the majority of his life. Chuck met the love of his life, Edna May Magonegil, and they married on November 20, 1949 in Woodland, California where they lived for 61 years before Edna’s passing in 2010. Chuck and Edna were hard workers and worked side by side in all their business ventures. Prior to owning Thomson Western Auto and VAS Variety which they ran for almost 30 years, Chuck and Edna owned Barkers Appliance. In addition to the businesses Chuck and Edna loved their little orange and apricot orchard in Winter, CA and sold fruit to the local markets. During all this, Chuck worked for Pacific Gas & Electric and retired from there after 33 years. Chuck always said how Edna could squeeze a penny into a dime and her frugalness and their hard work (coupled with her ability to keep Chuck inline) allowed them a good life for their family and in their later years many wonderful trips and their second home in Pine, Idaho, where they loved to visit often. After Edna’s passing, Chuck moved back to his Idaho roots to Pine, Idaho and eventually settled in Twin Falls, Idaho. Chuck loved to fish, play golf and drive his beloved hot rods to car shows all around Idaho. Chuck will always be remembered for his wonderful smile, his laugh and the fact that no one was a stranger around him. He loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. He loved to be surrounded by his friends and family. He will be missed by many. Chuck is preceded in death by both his parents and his siblings. He is survived by his daughter Joy (Dean) Bearden of Yuma, AZ, his son Chuck (Jayna) Thomson of Twin Falls, Idaho; nine (9) grandchildren: Kimmie (Jeff) Layman of Aumsville, Oregon; Danielle (David) Hidlebaugh of St. Paul, Minnesota; Brandi Bearden of Sacramento, California; Tiffany Brimm of Redding, California; Toni (Deril) Taylor of Central Point, Oregon; Brent (Karissa) Thomson of Central Point, Oregon; Ashley Locke of Rupert, Idaho; Morgan Locke of Bliss, Idaho; and Quinten Locke of Gooding, Idaho; fifteen (15) great-grandchildren and two (2) great-great grandsons.
