In Loving Memory of Connie Sayer

Connie Sayer, a remarkable soul who touched the lives of many, was born on November 11, 1947, in the picturesque town of Lexington, Nebraska, to her loving parents, Walter and Helen Dewey. On October 31, 2023, Connie left this world to embark on her next great adventure.

Connie's story is not just one of birth and passing; it is a testament to a life filled with love, passion, and devotion. Her journey was forever intertwined with the love of her life, Wayne Sayer. Fate brought them together on a street corner, where Wayne, captivated by Connie's beauty and grace, knew instantly that he had to ask her out on a date. This serendipitous meeting would mark the beginning of a profound and enduring love story that would span a lifetime.

In the year 1966, Connie graduated from school, and it was also the year that she and Wayne sealed their love with marriage. This union marked the foundation of a family filled with love and togetherness. Wayne and Connie's unwavering bond would stand the test of time, becoming a symbol of the enduring power of love. In 1972, they had a daughter, Sherri.

One of Connie's most enduring passions was baking, especially creating delectable cakes that could bring smiles to anyone's face. Her talent in the kitchen was nothing short of legendary. Connie's cakes, whether they were for weddings, birthdays, or any other special occasion, were known for their delicious taste and stunning presentation. In fact, Connie was so dedicated to her craft that she reserved an entire cupboard in her garage solely for her round baking pans. Her pursuit of perfection led her to frequently visit baking stores, where she would eagerly explore for new baking pans, and it was a rare occurrence for them to have a pan she did not already possess.

Beyond the kitchen, Connie and Wayne found joy in nature and the great outdoors. They shared a deep love for camping, relishing the serenity and beauty of the natural world. Their adventures in the wilderness became treasured memories that enriched their lives.

But perhaps nothing captured Connie's heart quite like hummingbirds. She loved being at Bear Gulch in the South Hills, when they were working with the tiny Humming Birds. She would laugh out loud when the tiny Humming birds would buzz around her head.  These enchanting creatures held a special place in her heart, and she found great joy in watching them flit about with their iridescent colors and delicate grace. Connie's admiration for hummingbirds reflected her capacity to find wonder in the world's simple pleasures. Connie was the kindest most compassionate mother in the world. She and Sherri baked lots of cakes and cookies together. She enjoyed doing numerous craft projects over the years. Connie’s laugh and smile brightened every room she stepped into.

Connie Sayer's legacy is one of warmth, love, and a commitment to making life sweeter for those around her. Her captivating smile, her kind heart, and her baking expertise were just some of the ways she left a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to know her.

As we bid farewell to Connie, we celebrate the love she shared, the joy she brought to our lives, and the memories that will forever cherish her spirit. Her legacy of love, devotion, and her passion for baking will continue to inspire all who were privileged to be a part of her life.

Connie leaves behind her beloved husband, Wayne Sayer, and their cherished daughter, Sherri Jean D’Angelo. She also leaves behind a multitude of friends and family members whose lives were enriched by her presence. Though she is no longer with us in the physical sense, her memory will continue to shine brightly in our hearts, a testament to the power of a life well-lived.
