Don was born October 28, 1938, to Albert and Ethel Bingham in East Cleveland, Ohio, where he attended school. At 16, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served four years during his first enlistment.

After working various jobs for six years, Don re-enlisted and served two more years. Twenty-one months of those last two years were spent as an infantryman in Vietnam. Don earned a Purple Heart Medal, along with multiple other service awards.

After Vietnam, Don lived and worked in Alaska for almost five years. Don left Alaska in 1977 and found Jackpot, Nevada, to his liking! He stayed in Jackpot for more than 30 years. He first worked as a cook at Barton's Club 93 and then as a card dealer at Barton’s for 27 or more years.

Don married Elsie Baker Whitney Bingham on March 2, 2001. He welcomed her and her three sons into his life. Shortly after, he retired and moved to Filer, Idaho.

Don is survived by his wife, Elsie Bingham, and three stepsons: Gerald Whitney, Cary Whitney, and Sean (Michelle) Whitney. He is also survived by two grandsons, Jordon and Luke Whitney. Two months before his passing, he had the privilege of welcoming a great-granddaughter, Serenity Whitney.

Don was registered as an organ donor and will have cremation services performed at Wilks Magic Valley Funeral Home. He will be inurned at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise, Idaho. Per his request, no formal services are currently planned.

The family would like to thank Don’s friends at McDonald’s and Chevron on the corner of Addison Avenue and Washington Street, everyone at Albertsons and the Fred Meyer Pharmacy, and especially Washington Street Pawn for all they have done for Don and his family.
