Donald “Ren Labrum Ren was born November of 1948 to Donald D. Labrum and Donna Schwendiman Labrum in St. Anthony, Idaho. He died after a 9 month long fight with lung cancer. He passed at St. Lukes Hospital in the ICU unit under the care of excellent doctors and nurses who did everything they could to keep him comfortable. He was attended by Pat, Fran and John Christensen, and his best friend, Jerry Kenyon when he passed. He was preceded in death by both his parents, his father Don in 2007 and his mother Donna in 2012, his brother Wayne Arthur in 2015, his brother in law Lee Seivers in 2013 and his niece Kaitlin Seivers 1989. He is survived and mourned by his wife of 53 years, Pat Labrum, his son Mike Labrum and Mike’s sons Mason and Morgan. His daughter Fran Christensen and her husband John and their children (Jacob and Cassie Christensen and their sons Solomon and Ryan) Nathan Christensen, JT Christensen, and Aaron Christensen. He is also survived and mourned by his sister Marcene Seivers and her children Nicole, Allisha, Dan, and Ashley. His brother Kevin and his wife Kim Labrum and their furry children Giles and Clunk. Ren lived in Twin Falls the majority of his life. He served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam war. Upon returning he took up the profession of an in store meat cutter. He worked all over the Magic Valley, including Swensens in Twin Falls in South Park at the beginning of his career, Albertsons, Terry’s in Jerome, Simerleys in Wendell, Walmart in Jerome and a few others that I’m sure I’ve missed. Ren loved to work in his yard with Pat. Their yard was always the prettiest one on the block and sometimes the entire street and neighborhood. After retiring he volunteered at the Twin Falls animal shelter for nearly 3 years. Ren was a great lover of animals and always had at least 1 cat in the house. Ren loved his wife and children fiercely and always had time for us when we needed it. It wasn’t unusual to find him in my home helping to care for a sick grandson or entertaining the others. He loved being a grandfather. I think his only true disappointment with Mike and I was that neither of us gave him a granddaughter! He and Pat showed up to every game, play, and event they could. He looked forward to our once a month family dinners when we got together to celebrate whoever’s birthday, anniversary or holiday. Ren will be greatly missed by us all. He has moved on to the next adventure in his existence and is no longer sick or in pain. He will be waiting on the other side for us all with a smile and, “It’s about time!”. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 12 noon at the Snake River National Cemetery in Buhl, Idaho.
