In loving memory of Donald Steven Shockey, known affectionately as Steve, it is with hearts that we announce his passing on July 20, 2024, in Twin Falls, Idaho. Steve was a remarkable individual whose life was filled with diverse experiences and a passion for living to the fullest.
Born on January 2, 1947, in Twin Falls, Idaho, Steve's journey unfolded as a testament to his resilience and adaptability. He left high school at the age of 17 to serve in the Army as a medic in Germany during the Vietnam era. Later in life, he achieved a significant milestone by obtaining his GED, of which he was immensely proud.
Steve's professional prowess knew no bounds as he excelled in various fields; from plumbing to welding, carpentry to being a true jack of all trades. His versatile skills were a reflection of his can-do attitude and unwavering determination.
Outside of work, Steve was a free spirit who found solace in nature. He had a profound love for hunting and cherished moments spent amidst the mountains. His hobbies included indulging in adventures like motorcycle rides and camping trips that brought him closer to the great outdoors he adored.
A man of strong principles and deep-rooted values, Steve held his family and friends dear to his heart. He will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty and protective nature towards those he loved. His kind soul shone through in countless ways, especially in times when he stood up against teasing or injustice.
Among Steve's proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly being a devoted father, along with his educational achievements and dedication to his work. These milestones stood as testaments to his hard work and commitment throughout his life.
Steve is preceded in death by his father Edward Shockey and mother Nettie Gates. He is survived by his beloved children Brian Shockey, Rockey Shockey, Shane Shockey, Tammy Shockey, siblings Curt Shockey, Bill Shockey, Ike Shockey, Kathy Shockey, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many other relatives who will carry forward his legacy of love and strength.
As we bid farewell to Steve - a loving father, dedicated professional, and cherished friend - may we find comfort in the memories we shared with him and the invaluable lessons he imparted during his time among us. Rest in peace, Steve; your spirit will forever live on in our hearts.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Snake River Canyon National Cemetery, 1585 East Elm Street, Buhl, Idaho 83316. A luncheon will follow the service at Wilks Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, Idaho 83301.
