Dorothy Amazeen

October 11, 1932 — January 2, 2021

Dorothy Amazeen, age 88 of Twin Falls Idaho, passed away at home surrounded by her family on January 2, 2021. Dorothy was born in Greenland, New Hampshire on October 12, 1932 to Mary and Arthur Todd. She graduated from Portsmouth High School and began working in administration at the Portsmouth Naval shipyard. Dorothy married Vincent Amazeen in Greenland, New Hampshire in 1953, they were married for 27 years. Dorothy was an accomplished seamstress, making her wedding dress on a treadle sewing machine. She moved more than 30 times during her life. Where-ever she moved, she had a rule that the curtains had to be up and the beds made the day the family moved in. She said that made it feel like home. Dorothy would also know the new neighbors by the next day. She was a gracious, giving and kind person. Gardening, cooking, writing poetry and meeting her friends were her hobbies. She always placed family first, offering encouragement and praise. Dorothy maintained contact with all her friends throughout her life, some dating from kindergarten (the Greenland girls). She was especially close with her cousin Cheryl. She ran 2 restaurants, a bakery and a buffet with her husband Vince in Clovis, New Mexico. After moving to Arizona she worked as a procurement officer for Luke AFB. She retired and moved to Twin Falls in 2000 and loved being part of the community. She especially enjoyed quilting at the senior center, dancing and meeting up with all her friends. She attended The Rock Creek Community Church for many years. Dorothy is survived by Vince, Stacey and Linda Amazeen and her cousin Cheryl Duffy. Dorothy requested that no service be held. She requested the following poem be part of her obituary: WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME AND I’M NOT THERE TO SEE IF THE SUN SHOULD RISE AND FIND YOUR EYES ALL FILLED WITH TEARS FOR ME, I WISH SO MUCH YOU WOULDN’T CRY THE WAY YOU DID TODAY, WHILE THINKING OF THE MANY THINGS WE DID NOT GET TO SAY. I KNOW HOW MUCH YOU LOVE ME AS MUCH AS I LOVE YOU AND EACH TIME THAT YOU THINK OF ME I KNOW YOU’LL MISS ME TOO. BUT WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME PLEASE TRY TO UNDERSTAND, THAT AN ANGEL CAME AND CALLED MY NAME AND TOOK ME BY THE HAND AND SAID MY PLACE WAS READY IN HEAVEN FAR ABOVE AND THAT I’D HAVE TO LEAVE BEHIND ALL THOSE I DEARLY LOVED. BUT WHEN I WALKED THROUGH HEAVEN’S GATES I FELT SO MUCH AT HOME WHEN GOD LOOKED DOWN AND SMILED AT ME FROM HIS GREAT GOLDEN THRONE. HE SAID, “THIS IS ETERNITY, AND ALL I PROMISED YOU. TODAY YOUR LIFE ON EARTH IS PAST BUT HERE LIFE STARTS ANEW.” SO WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME DON’T THINK WE’RE FAR APART FOR EVERY TIME YOU THINK OF ME I’M RIGHT HERE, IN YOUR HEART.
