Douglas Maier

December 24, 1954 — April 20, 2022

Douglas R. Maier, 67, of Twin Falls, ID went to be with Jesus on April 20, 2022, after complications from colon cancer. Doug was born in Rocky Ford, Colorado on December 24, 1954, to Richard and Barbara Maier. He graduated from LaJunta High School in 1973. Doug met his angel, Eunice Bond, in Lamar, Colorado at the Best Western Stagecoach where she worked at the time in 1976. They later married at the Stanton County courthouse in Johnson, Kansas on February 6, 1979. Doug and Eunice moved to Twin Falls, ID to go on to raise their three children. He took a job at Gem Equipment as a mechanic and worked on farm equipment and later became a shop supervisor at Elliott Industrial Equipment. He decided to pursue his passion for technology and started his own business called Blackdiamond Computer Systems in 1995. The business allowed him to sell and fix computers and he also worked on printers and refilled toner cartridges. Recently, he started working at Cactus Pete’s fixing slot machines. He really loved that job and the people he worked with. He always had funny stories to tell of his coworkers, the buffet, and the entertainment. Doug always knew how to lighten a mood and respond with words that would make you laugh. He kept a light heart and would always offer words of wisdom. He could fix anything and everything, and if he did not know how to fix something, he researched it until he could. He never threw things away and always knew it could be fixed. He really was a jack-of-all-trades. You could also find him loving life on a golf course. He had an amazing way of staying calm no matter where the ball ended up. Fishing was another hobby that he genuinely enjoyed with his son, even if the boat didn’t always work. Music was a passion of his and it really took off once he discovered Spotify. If you went to his house during this time, he was sure to start playing songs at the highest level so you could really enjoy them. Christmases were extra special when he would blast Christmas music on the old eight track. He had a fun heart and was always ready to have a good time and to laugh. And in his last weeks, he brought this joy to the nursing staff at St. Luke’s. He would consistently ask them how their day was and offered humor to get them to laugh. The day before Easter, he was offering to hide Easter Eggs even if they got cracked because he had to throw them. That was Doug. Those that knew him loved him and he will be greatly missed. Doug was predeceased by his mother in 2005 and his father in 2010. He is survived by his wife, Eunice Maier, his daughters, Rebekka Maier, and Candice Richter (Seamus Campbell), his son, Douglas F. Maier (Aunica Maier), his sisters, Connie Maier, and Joyce Frazier, his six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be held on May 6, 2022, at 11am at Parkes Funeral Home in Twin Falls, ID. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the family to help offset the medical and funeral costs.
