Edmond (Ed) Eugene Mason of Twin Falls, Idaho passed away rather suddenly of an undiagnosed cancer on April 12, 2021. Ed was born in Wendell, Idaho on January 3, 1938 to Nubern John Mason, born in Success, Missouri and Grace Bertha Dean Mason, born in Pullallup, Washington. He had a sister Shirley and two brothers Dean and Bud. Ed attended school in Wendell, Idaho , not particularly liking it, but he did learn how to write. He was quite a poet, doing poems later in life for birthdays, funerals, weddings and one for his wife on every holiday and birthdays over 60 years. He graduated in 1956. After graduating high school, Ed moved into the desert by Barstow, Nevada to work for a company drilling for water. He was there for about 6 months returning to Wendell. He then got a job with IML Freight, delivering all around Southern Idaho. In 1960 he joined the National Guard in Gooding, Idaho and was a member for 6 years. In 1958, after returning to Wendell from Barstow, he met the love of his life, Billie Parker at a Basque dance in Shoshone, Idaho. He had actually gone to school with this girl, but had not noticed her until this dance. Every weekend they attended a Basque dances in the different towns around. They were married in 1961 in Wendell, Idaho and were blessed with two boys, Vance Parker and Michael Wade. Ed enjoyed coaching the boys in baseball, teaching them to fish, hunt and trap shoot. Spending as many weekends in the mountains as he could. Ed was an excellent bowler and an avid trap shooter, taking his family all over the western states for tournaments. In the early ‘70s he had to give up trap shooting as IML Freight went bankrupt. He then took up golf and was a contender in all the tournaments. With IML going down, Ed decided to open a trophy shop and in in 1984 he with his son Wade opened Mason’s Trophies & Gifts, with neither one having any idea how to run a business. Ed always said “If we treat people as we would like to be treated, we will do okay” and they did. Vance joined the business in 1991 and Ed and the boys continued running it until he purchased Gem State Trophies in 2005. Wade moved out there to run that one and Vance and Ed were at the other one. In 2009 he purchased a building and merged the two business together. His grandchildren have all worked there, helping with college. He is survived by his wife, Billie, son Vance (Robin) Mason, grandson Kyle (Alicia) Mason and their daughter Brinley, granddaughters Corey, (Daniel) Sullivan and their son Isaac and Riley Mason. He is also survived by Wade and Judy’s children Renee (JJ) Cox, Tony Roberts and Becky Roberts and their children. He was preceded in death by his mother Grace, father Nubern, sister Shirley, brothers Dean and Nubern (Bud) and son Michael (Wade). The family would expressly like to thank RN Lorilynn with Harrison Hope for her compassionate care of Ed during her short time with him. At Ed’s request, there will be no service. Please just go golf, bowl or shoot trap for him.
