Ellie Louise Motzner, 76, of Filer, passed away on June 4th, 2020 in her family home of 37 years with loved ones. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 422 6th Street in Filer from 12:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Ellie was born in Twin Falls, Idaho to John and Margaret Anderst on December 26, 1943. She began school in a one-room schoolhouse at Elmwood, south of Filer, and graduated from Filer High School. She married Gary Dean Motzner on September 19, 1962. She worked as a legal secretary for the 5th Judicial Court in Twin Falls. She loved to sew, and even took some sewing classes at the College of Southern Idaho. She had been well-known to make dresses or other clothing for family and friends. She also loved cross-stitching, and has blessed loved ones with the gift of hand-made works of art that will be loved and displayed for many years to come. Her true passion was in quilting, meticulously stitching together beautiful quilts, either by hand or machine. No project was too big or too small, and she would not be intimidated by the most complex of those creations, almost all of which would become highly-cherished family heirlooms. Ellie loved the outdoors, and from the time the kids were babies, she and Gary would take them camping and fishing, and that would continue on into the kids’ adulthood. She even sewed up several fishing float tubes for the whole family! She and Gary also enjoyed the activity known as Geocaching. Their geocaching friends still know them by their nickname, the “Dustbusters”, and will still get a chuckle thinking back to how that name came about! Ellie is preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Anderst, and she is survived by her husband, Gary Dean Motzner, her son, Gary Shane Motzner, her daughter, Tiffany Ann Underwood (Michael), and her granddaughter, Madison Shea Motzner. She had a special place in her heart for Willa Rose Prince, and considers her a granddaughter. Ellie loved her husband and her children unconditionally, and would pray for them often. Even when things were tough, she never let go of the bond between herself and her family. She kept herself surrounded by angels, some being her hand-made cross-stitched creations, many figurines, but mostly those that walk among us and touched her life in the good times and the very few not-so good times. Ellie will be in our hearts forever. The family would like to send out a very special thank you to the people of St. Luke’s Hospice and the volunteers for the love and care they provided to Ellie over the past year. Please come share your thoughts, memories and refreshments and food with Ellie's family. Services were under the direction of Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home Twin Falls, ID
