Twin Falls

Eulala LaVerne Wright passed away on December 15, 2024, in Twin Falls, Idaho.

The daughter of Clinton Lorenzo Russell and Minnie Josephine Hanson Russell, she was born  March 16, 1926 in Selden, Kansas.

In 1944, Eulala moved with her family to Filer, Idaho, where she graduated from Filer High School in 1945.

She married Raymond Jr. Wright on March 7, 1946 in Filer, Idaho and they later divorced. The family moved to Jerome, Idaho in 1958.

Eulala worked as a bookkeeper for several businesses in the Magic Valley, and also in the Portland Oregon area after relocating there in 1977.  She retired to Twin Falls in 1989.

A talented individual, Eulala loved music. She possessed a beautiful soprano voice, and learned to play the violin, piano, and organ. Alongside her musical pursuits, Eulala found joy in gardening, writing poetry, sewing, and crocheting. She earned the nickname “Scrubbie lady” throughout Magic Valley for the popular dish scrubbies she crafted from netting.  Eulala enjoyed making gifts for her family and friends. Even in her later years, despite encountering challenges with her eyesight, she continued to crochet lap quilts for residents in her assisted living community.

Throughout her life, Eulala was an active member of the Baptist church, where she served in numerous capacities including Sunday School teacher, Deaconess, President of Missions, treasurer, pianist, and organist. Additionally, Eulala was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and was a charter member of the Sons of Norway and the Magic Valley Vikings. She also participated in the Twin Falls Red Hat Society and the Ageless Senior Center.

Eulala is survived by her four children: Cecil L. Wright (Mareda) of Twin Falls, Idaho; Arrietha Gaede (Christ) of Vancouver, Washington; Verlon R. Wright of Buhl, Idaho; and Amalea Hendrickson (Mark) of Bremerton, Washington. Her legacy also includes nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Eulala is also survived by two sisters, Vira Russell Amende and Ferma Russell Webster, both of Twin Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings, and her daughter-in-law, Jean Halverson Wright.

Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls. Per her wishes, there will be no memorial service.

"My God is Here

God is here, I hear His voice

While robins make the world rejoice

I touch His robe each time I place

My hand against a pansy’s face.

I breathe His breath if I but pass

Verbenas trailing through the grass.

God is Here! From every tree

His leavy fingers beckon me."

(Composed by Eulala while working in her garden)
