Floyd Lewis Cooper was born on September 25th, 1946 in Burley, Idaho to Ada and William Cooper. He passed away on April 24th, 2020 at home with his family by his side in Twin Falls, Idaho. Floyd was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Those who knew him loved him very much. Floyd always had a love for hunting and fishing and had many stories to tell. Floyd was also a fantastic artist and was remarkable with woodwork projects. Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, Ada and William Cooper, his grandson Jestin (Jesse) Paul Riach, and his brothers: Jim Cooper, Raymond Cooper, and Gene Miller. Floyd graduated from Burley High School in 1963 and not long after, joined the Marine Corp and was proud to be a Marine and fight for our country. He served from December 31, 1963 – October 20, 1967 when he was honorably discharged with a purple heart and 100% disability for being shot during combat, his injuries crushing the bones in both of his legs. He continued to support local veterans by donating ten years (2,370 hours) to transporting veterans to and from the Twin Falls area for treatment at the VA hospital in Boise, ID. Floyd’s heart for these veterans was evident as he used his own vehicle for many years until he was able to get a DAV van to do so. Floyd is survived by his amazing wife Karen Jean Cooper, their four daughters Shawna Kay Riach Hisaw (Craig) of Meridian, ID, Shelly Jean Clark of Mitchell, SD, Charlotte Rankin (Jason) of Springfield, OR, and Amber Cheslik (Eric) of Hailey, ID, and one sister, Shirley Norwack of Potlach, ID. He also has 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren who love him and will miss him very much. Due to circumstances beyond our control there will be only a graveside service attended by a small private group. A memorial service will be held at a date yet to be determined.
