Gary Richard Betschart, of Eureka, NV, passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital, in Twin Falls, ID, Sunday June 19, 2022. He was 69 years old. Gary was born in Turlock, CA, on June 13, 1953, to Orville and Ellen Betschart. He has three siblings, sister Karen, brother David, and brother Douglas. He grew up in the house his parents built, and he graduated from Livingston High School in 1971. Gary spent the first 20 years of his life on the family dairy farm in Livingston, CA. He was happiest living and working with his Pa and siblings on the farm raising alfalfa, corn, calves, pigs, watermelons, and eventually almonds. He also farmed his own fields and hauled hay. As a young adult, Gary enjoyed the rodeo life for several years as a bull rider and he enjoyed coaching his sons t-ball team and was the Pack Master for his Livingston Cub Scout Troop. He moved to Eureka, NV in 1979 and worked for local farmers. On Aug 9, 1980, Gary was a passenger in a car accident that left him paralyzed from the chest down. He always claimed to be 6’2” before the accident, but 4’9” after. An example of the sense of humor and positive outlook on life that he never lost. After his accident Gary went on to start his own business selling farm equipment and brokering hay. He eventually bought his own farm in Diamond Valley. Gary loved working and being on his farm which he continued to operate until he died. Gary was known to never pass up a “good deal” whether he needed it or not. He was the kind of man to make a deal on a handshake, he said” “it was just how he was raised!” He looked forward to hunting and fishing every year with his son, son-in-law, grandkids, brother, or best friend Scott. Never to be held back Gary hunted big game out of state several times in Colorado, Montana, and Oregon for deer, elk, and antelope. In the summers, he coached his daughters little league team and coached the adult slow pitch softball teams for many years. He enjoyed teaching his grandkids to cook, and never missed one of their sports games or recitals if he could help it. He loved playing cards, watching sports, especially the SF Giants, singing Karaoke, dancing, shooting pool, Eureka’s July 4th celebrations, and having a drink with friends at the local bars. Most of all he enjoyed visiting and spending time with his family. Gary was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend and is survived by son Wayne Redmon and his wife Linda, of Cressey, CA, daughter Brandi Anderson and her husband KC, of Twin Falls, ID, grandchildren Patrick (Rachel) Redmon, Andrew (Stephanie) Redmon, Sam (Joanne) Redmon, Taylor (Alex) Ghanavati, Koltin, Wyatt, Tanner, Cooper, and Cutter Anderson, great-grandchildren Mac Redmon, Abby Redmon, Owen Redmon, Floyd Redmon, Brian Ghanavati, AnnaBeth Anderson, Ari Redmon, Reid Ghanavati, Maya Ghanavati, Sister Karen(Kittybabe) Crane and husband Larry of Lemoore CA., brother David Betschart and wife Leora of Eureka, NV., brother Douglas Betschart and wife Sandra of Livingston CA. as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
