On October 18, with open arms, Jesus welcomed Gene home. He passed peacefully surrounded by family. For the last 2 months, Gene was a resident at Chardonnay Assisted Living. He was born to Joseph and Blanche Kovar in North Dakota. Gene married the love of his life, Donna Jean McCauley. They shared 65 years of living and loving each other in Filer, Idaho. They raised and loved three children; Debbie, Scott and David. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim and Morris; sisters Marvalyn, LaVerne, and Darlene. He is survived by his Wife donna Kovar, Brother; Joseph (Verna) Kovar and Royce Kovar; children, Debra (Creg) Clark, Scott (Anne) Norwood, David (Kyle) Kovar, and 7 grandchildren, 13 grandchildren and 1 great great grandchildren. Gene served in the U.S. Navy in 1951 during the Korean War. He proudly served for four years and was honorably discharged in 1955. He had a wicked sense of humor and loved working with his hands. He was a woodworker, mechanic, and enjoyed sketching. He loved family camping and fishing trips in the summer. Later in life, he was a "snowbird" for a few years going south to Arizona in the winter. He enjoyed traveling and seeing new places. He made a living by working at ACME Machine Manufacturing in Filer, Idaho for 35 years. As per his wishes there will be no service or viewing. At later date, he will be laid to rest in the Filer cemetery with a private family memorial. His family would like to thank the wonderful caring staff at Chardonnay Assisted Living for taking such excellent care of him as well as Auburn Crest Home Health and Hospice.
