Glen Parsons

July 28, 1940 — January 15, 2023

Glen Parsons was born in July of 1940 in Hastings, Nebraska to Harold and Esther (Young) Parsons. He passed peacefully at home on January 15th. He went to Hastings Schools and joined the US Air Force in 1964. Several years later, Glen transferred to become a US Navy Sailor until his honorable discharge in 1988. He was a Vietnam veteran. He met his wife Roberta on a blind date arranged by a fellow sailor while in San Diego. They lived happily until the passing of Roberta. He married Mary Frances Garcia in November of2012, and they shared seven and a half years together until she passed in 2020. Glen had many interests over his lifetime, including woodworking and photography. He also enjoyed camping with his dog and best pal, Max. Glen obtained a pilot’s license and successfully built two small planes for his enjoyment. He was also a ham radio operator for many years. Glen also liked trains, which started as a boy in Nebraska, running to the tracks when he heard a whistle. He even saw the “Big Boy” engine! He liked creating model set ups in later years. His affection for trains expanded when he found “Railfan Live” on the internet, giving live coverage of trains all over the world. Glen was a man who revered God. He esteemed his relationship to the Lord as the most important in life and served him with dedication. He was a loving husband and true friend to those who knew him. He will be missed by all.
