Glenn Dale Schroeder

January 2, 1945 — January 14, 2024

Glenn Dale Schroeder, 79, passed away due to heart failure Sunday, January 14th, 2024, at the Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls, Idaho. The second of four sons, Glenn was born January 2, 1945, to Gordon and Audrey Schroeder in Twin Falls. Raised in the Clover community outside of Buhl, he graduated from Filer High School in 1963 after lettering in both football and basketball. He then graduated from the California College of Mortuary Sciences in 1967. While working as a mortician in Pasadena, CA, he met his future wife, Judy Huckaby, a home-economics major, and proceeded to pretend to be destitute and unable to cook his own meals in order to mooch dinners at her apartment.

Even after picking her up for their first date in a mortuary first call car, she continued to date him, and they were married April 11,1970 in Pasadena, CA, while friends, family, and 13 morticians witnessed the ceremony. After living in Northern California for the first year of their marriage, Judy told Glenn she'd move "even to Idaho" if he got her out of California. For the following 53 years they made Idaho their home.

In 1974 and 1976 respectively, their two daughters, Stephanie and Heather, were born in Twin Falls. In the early 1980's Glenn changed careers, followed in his father's footsteps, and bought a farm on which to raise his family.

After retirement, Glenn and Judy enjoyed traveling around the United States in their motorhome and visiting Europe. But his most enjoyable trip was to Israel. They also enjoyed going to classic car shows in the many classic cars Glenn bought to fix up.

Always the adventurer, Glenn's last three years were spent traveling around Idaho, Arizona, and Nevada mining for gold, silver, and turquoise.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Doug and Russell, and brother-in-law Tom Yeley. He is survived by his wife Judy, daughters Stephanie Huntsinger (Lonnie), Heather Schroeder, and loving grandchildren Haley Crawford (Travis), Christian Humes, and Caden and Riley Huntsinger. He is also survived by his remaining brother, Mark Schroeder (Peggy), sisters-in-law Danielle, Susan, and Kay Yeley, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 2055 Filer Ave. East, Twin Falls, Idaho, on February 3, at 11 AM with Pastor Roger Sedlmayr officiating. Arrangements are made by Wilks Magic Valley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023 or to Lutheran Camp Perkins, HC 64 Box 9384, Ketchum, ID 83340.
