H. Richard Cook

Harvey Richard Cook (H. Richard) age 77, of Twin Falls, Idaho passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2021, peacefully at home surrounded by his wife, Wanda, and daughters, Cori Barrera and Melisa Cooper. Richard was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on November 19, 1943, to Harvey Maxon and Enid Richards Cook and he was the oldest of three children. He graduted from Twin Falls High School in 1961 and then attended college at Idaho State University and received a degree in business. Richard met his future bride-to-be, Wanda Mae Heileson and they were married September 21, 1968, in Rigby, Idaho. They would have been married for 53 years this September. Richard began his career as a banker in Salt Lake City then Boise but soon moved back to Twin Falls to start work with his dad, Harvey Cook, selling insurance at Cook Insurance in 1973. After the passing of his father, Richard took over the business for several years before moving to Hamilton Insurance and worked there until he retired. Richard taught ballroom dance for many years with his parents. Richard was involved with Rotary for many years. He also played French Horn with the City Band and the Symphony for over 36 years. Richard also liked to spend time on the golf course for some much-needed rest and relaxation. Richard is predeceased in death by his parents Harvey and Enid Cook. He is survived by his wife Wanda Cook; daughters Cori Barrera and Melisa Cooper (both of Boise) and son Martin Cook; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren; Sister, Janice Taylor and brother, Dennis (Wendy) Cook both of Utah; and cousin, Pat Richards. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the Magic Valley Symphony at PO Box 1805, Twin Falls, Idaho 83303 or to the Twin Falls Municipal Band (city band) c/o at First Federal Bank, 383 Shoshone Street North, Twin Falls, Idaho 83301: James R Wilson Memorial Fund (Scholarship fund). A visitation will be held Tuesday September 7, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. and the funeral will follow at 2:00 P.M at Parke’s Magic Valley Funeral Home, burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
