Henry “Everett” Andrews passed away November 29 at the age of 90 from natural causes. Dad was born October 29, 1931 in Colby, Kansas to Ed and Marie Andrews. He was joined later by siblings, Eunice and Virgil. Dad graduated from Filer High School in 1949. He then attended telegraph school in Salt Lake City. He used to hitchhike back and forth from Utah to Filer. Dad married Norma Green in 1950. They had met on a blind date. Mom and Dad were blessed with 3 children, Ralph, Larry, and Shannon. In 1980 they traveled in their little Datsun 210 to 42 states, later they drove to the other 6 continental states and flew to Alaska. They just never made it to Hawaii. Mom was scared of the water...not flying! Dad put his life on hold when Mom got sick in 2003. He took care of her better than anyone could. Mom passed away in 2006 from complications of the cancer she fought valiantly against for many years. Dad had a VERY active life! He worked for the railroad for several years, stationed in Wells, NV, Reno, NV and San Luis Obispo, CA. He was affectionately known as Hank. Dad had many other occupations after the railroad. He bought and ran a dairy and farmed for many years, purchased and operated a grocery store and a log mill, drove milk truck for Pet Milk, hauled for Circle A and TransSystems, and delivered bread for The Bakery. Dad held the Lord close to his heart and was a great influence to others in finding their path to God. He held almost every office there was at the Filer First Baptist Church. He was moderator for 20 years, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, visited everyone in the hospital, nursing home or homebound, and coached the softball team for many years. Dad was an avid bowler and almost bowled a perfect game. Along with best friend, Dick Tucker, he got his private pilot license. He was on the school board for 10 years and served on the FHA board. He was also a member of Kiwanis, The Masonic Lodge and Shriners. Dad married Ruth Abel in 2009. She passed away in 2011. Dad started dating long time friend, Patty Schweitzer. Their friendship turned into love. They were married December 21, 2012. “Grandma Patty” has been a Godsend. They have been by each other’s sides ever since, and without her Dad would have been lost. We thank you! Dad is survived by his loving wife, Patty, his sister, Eunice Bruce, and brother, Virgil (Mary) Andrews. Children Ralph (Eileen) Andrews, Larry Andrews, Shannon (Del) Alvey. He loved and was loved by his grandchildren Stacy (Joe) Nylan, Erin (Jason) Porter, Kim (Adrian Alarcon) Kendall, Scott Alvey. He even built a special relationship with his Step-Granddaughter, Megan Lewis. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren. “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 Per Dad’s request he was cremated and there are no services planned.
