At his passing David was surrounded by Gloria Dye, his Significant Other of 17 years, His Daughters Tammy and Brandy and his son BJ. David was the first-born son of Howard and Florence Dye of Syracuse, New York. David was raised in the Christian faith; his beliefs remained with him throughout his life. David was preceded in death by his sister Joyce Ramlet, brother Larry Dye, daughter April Dye, son Kevin Dye. He is survived by his brothers Thomas Dye, Ronald Dye and Douglas Dye, and sisters, Delores Hampton and Sherry Liest. He is further survived by his children, Kimberly Dye, James Zarr, Scott Sornberger, Tammy Rodriquez, Brandy Sornberger, Billy Joe Dye, Maryann Dye, Christy McDaniel and many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren In his early years David and his family moved to Southern California where he attended church and School. Some of David’s interests were music, he played piano and enjoyed singing. As an adult he eventually relocated to Idaho and that became his chosen state. He was passionate about his team, "Boise State" and cheered for their victories! David actually harvested the logs to build a two-story log cabin. The first of its kind in Hazelton, Idaho. He met Gloria and together they made a beautiful loving home which they shared with various dogs and a cat. As the oldest child of 7 younger siblings David was a pioneer. He was a wonderful brother and always managed to make things interesting and fun. He was generous and patient in his knowledge and would try and help with any questions that we may have. This kindness extended into his adult life. He was Dad to his many Children. The family enjoyed sports, scouting and outdoor fun such as camping and fishing. His children have many precious memories from their childhood. David was a Leader in Pathfinders and enjoyed teaching other children about outdoor activities. In between employment and raising a family David made time to take classes and training to become a Certified EMT. (Emergency Medical Technician) He was active as an EMT in his local area for several years. Gloria and David enjoyed travel, as well as RV camping. David would always bring the kayak for some further exploration! A CB radio enthusiast David was known far and wide as the Old Crow. He had that CB handle from the mid 1950's until his passing. Gloria remained with David through thick and thin and administered loving care of him when he began to decline. After a 30-year career David retired from Amalgamated Sugar and began to pursue some of his hobbies. He joined the Elks Lodge in Jerome, ID and became an active member of the Illustrious Brotherhood of Elks. David attained the position of Royal Knight and vowed that these were the best people he had the pleasure of working with. He made himself available to assist with the many charitable projects at the time he became ill he was continuing to solicit donations for the shoebox program. The Elks Lodge in Jerome, ID has scheduled a Memorial Service for January 14, 2023, from 1-4 p.m. 412 E.200 S. Jerome, ID 83338 Per David's wishes any donations should be made to the Snake River Elks Lodge. **To my family and friends, if you are attending the service on Saturday, we are doing a pot-luck after the service.
