James Dennis (JD) Clawson II, age 19, of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away quietly in his home surrounded by his loving family on August 27, 2021 of kidney failure.
JD was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on August 11, 2002 to James A. and Dana Clawson. He was born with a rare chromosomal abnormality and immediately was flown to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City for evaluation. Several medical conditions were discovered, and he underwent surgery when he was only a few days old. This abnormality would slow his development and result in numerous surgeries and treatments over the course of his life.
Shortly after his birth, his family moved back to Twin Falls, Idaho to be near grandparents for extra support. In September 2006 he gained a little sister, Brittany and the family became complete.
He attended Harrison Developmental Preschool for a short time. He then completed elementary and middle school at the Idaho School for the Deaf and Blind, graduating from the 8th grade there. It was there that he met others with disabilities and formed a special friendship with his buddy, Josh. It was also here that he met Cheryl Brown who was to become a pivotal person in his life. He transferred to Canyon Ridge High school and completed four years in the special needs department graduating in May 2021.
JD had numerous difficulties in his short life that included open heart surgery and surgeries on his legs that took his ability to walk. Throughout all these painful trials, he remained a happy and cheerful person. His favorite toys were his musical xylophone and his large, connected stuffed toy collection. Whenever, he got something new, it had to be connected to this collection immediately. He was forever giving out pursed lips spitty kisses and was not happy unless you returned the same. He loved sitting with his family and watching NASCAR races and his favorite cartoon was Phineas and Ferb.
Since his graduation, it was discovered that his kidneys were failing and so this summer has been one of special excursions that included camping trips and a special vacation to the Oregon Coast.
He is survived by his parents, his sister Brittany, and his grandparents Jim and Sandi Clawson and Paula Hulse and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Although his life was short, he made a huge impact on those he knew. Heaven has gained a special angel.
