Janice Carver Christie Fox, age 95, passed away peacefully at Bridgeview Estates on April 8, 2021 of natural causes. She was born on November 2, 1925 in Ogden, Utah. to James Henry (Harry) Carver and Mamie Ethel Stallings Carver. She grew up during the great depression that began with the stock market collapse in 1929 but her father was never out of work so they managed fairly well through the periods of rationing and doing without. She would tell stories of wearing dresses made from the flour sacks their baking flour came in because fabric was in short supply and they walked where they wanted to go because gasoline was being rationed. Her father was a manager of a J.C. Penney's store and was transferred a lot during her growing up years so she attended schools in Ogden, Utah; Alamosa, Colorado; and graduated from Monte Vista Colorado High School in 1943. Following high school she attended business college in Salt Lake City, Utah. This was during the World War II and the L.D.S. Church had opened the Beehive House that was the home to Brigham Young and used it as a dormitory for single young women to use while they were attending school. She deaned and worked in the kitchen there to pay for her room and board. She met and married her first husband, Delbert Estil Christie (Pat) toward the end World War II and the first few years of their marriage worked back and forth between Colorado and California while he obtained an electrician's license. During that time, a stillborn son and two daughters were born into their family. They settled in Pagosa Springs, Colorado and opened a business there but her husband died suddenly, leaving her with two small girls to raise. So she sold the business and moved to Filer, Idaho to be near her parents. She attended Twin Falls Business College to brush up on her skills and then went to work at Bertie's Chicken as a bookkeeper. When that business dosed she then went to work for Asgrow Seed Company and it was there that she met and married her second husband, Lester Larkin Fox and her third daughter was born. She became a stay-at-home wife and mother and from then on put all her energies into providing a good home for her family. They bought an acreage on the outskirts of Filer and raised animals for the freezer, milked cows, had chickens and she canned everything she could from her large garden each year. She was instrumental in helping her children achieve any accomplishment they were trying for and was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren when they succeeded in their accomplishments. She and Lester loved to travel and fish. She laid claim to the title of the best fisherman. In 1998, she became a widow again but she was very content living in her little apartment and she enjoyed going to Senior Center where she could swap stories and remembrances with people her own age. She loved playing Bingo until her eyesight became so bad that she could not see the numbers any longer. She spent the last two years of her life at Bridgeview Estates Care Center. They were hard years as she was quarantined a number of months from Covid-19. At the age of 95, it was time for her to join her family in heaven for a wonderful reunion. She is survived by her two daughters, Paula Rae Hulse of Twin Falls, and Connie Jo (Douglas) Wright of Kimberly, along with 9 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands: one brother, Paul Carver; one son, Leslie Christie; one daughter; Louise Fox Sanford; and one great grandson, Brady Otto. A viewing will be help on Tuesday, April 13 at Parke's Funeral Home from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm with a graveside service at the Filer Cemetery at 2:00 pm. The family would like to thank the staff at Bridgeview Estates for the wonderful attention that was given to our mom and grandmother while she was in your care. A special thank you to Shirley Hansen who not only cared for her but became her special friend also. She loved you all!
