John Bybee

John Bybee, 93, of Buhl, Idaho, passed away at Woodland Assisted Living in Buhl on February 5, 2021. John was born on January 30, 1928, the first of 5 children, to Claude and Lillie Ann Burgess Bybee. He attend Buhl schools. John was married and divorced from 3 women: Trudy Bradshaw Bybee, Ruth Bruffey Bybee (mother of his children), and Bonnie Lutz Bybee. John enlisted in the Army and served in Germany from 1945-1948. Upon discharge he worked for Curtis Chevrolet and later for Dave Monroe Chevrolet. He was a member of the Buhl Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He then owned the American and Conoco stations, where he was the lead mechanic. After selling the stations he bought Bybee's Manor Drive in Buhl, which he later sold. Upon retirement, John started his own business, Bybee's Flagpoles, and installed many flagpoles in the area. John loved to hunt and fish and had many stories to tell to anyone who would listen. He spent a lot of winters in Mexico and it sounded as if the fishing was great there! John is survived by daughter, Lora (Kevin) Ahlm and their children Brodie Bybee, Chris (Julee) Ahlm, and Stephanie (Chris) Mattson; son, Ty Bybee and his children Jimmie (Tonya) Bybee, Chelsey Lowder, Ty (Hailea) Bybee Jr., and Jeremy Bybee, as well as numerous great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Wanda Jean Carrington; brothers Larry Bybee and David (Dawn) Bybee, as well as Lee's son, Gary (Joyce) Bybee, of whom he was quite fond. Preceding John in death were his parents; brother, Lee Bybee, and Lee's daughter, Phyllis Bybee Watson; and his three former wives. A memorial service with military honors for John will be at the Snake River Canyon National Cemetery in Buhl, Idaho on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 1:00 P.M.
