Jon Chalmers Hindes

July 18, 1935 — April 10, 2019

                Jon Chalmers Hindes, age 83 of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away at Twin Falls Care Center on April 10, 2019 in Twin Falls, Idaho.     Jon was born in Mitchell, South Dakota July 18, 1935 to Chalmers and Cecelia Hindes. After graduation, Jon enlisted in the Army and served 1 tour in Korea.   Jon married Dorothy Jane Trotter April 14, 1961 in Pipestone, South Dakota. To this union were born 5 children, Michelle, Eric, Thor, Olin, and Leif.    Dorothy passed away August 14, 1982      Jon married Cynthia Novotny (Neebreinig) on November 4, 1984.  Jon reenlisted in the Army because he wanted to serve in Vietnam. He served three and a half tours in Vietnam, but was not  career military.  After leaving the Army, Jon became an underground miner. His absolute passion! He picked up some hobbies including leather tooling and hooking rugs   Jon suffered a major stroke November 23, 1993 that left him totally disabled. This left him bed ridden for over 25 years. Because he was on partial disability. It was ruled 100% service connected and the VA has generously supported Jon and his family throughout this 25 year ordeal. Surviving Jon is his loving wife of 35 years, Cynthia and his four oldest children. A Celebration of Jon’s life will be held, Thursday, July 18, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Parke’s Magic Valley Funeral Home 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, ID.  All services and arrangements are under the direction of the funeral home.  Those wishing to share memories and condolences may do so one Jon’s memorial webpage at www.magicvalleyfuneralhome.com.
